Thainstone House, hotel in Oldmeldrum

Set in 44 acres of gardens and woodland, Thainstone House is just 15 minutes from Aberdeen Dyce International Airport. The hotel has a luxury spa and fitness centre, and a free parking.

I loved the atmosphere, the architecture and the scenery. I felt like there was plenty to do in the House and wish we could’ve stayed more than one night. It’s the type of place you could stay and spend time in, and not have to explore the area to have a good time.

    Faultless.

Faultless. Beautiful decor, practical layout, great food, helpful staff, the team here work hard and are getting it right. If you’re worried about spending a little more than you intended don’t be, this place is worth it. My tip would be get the Sirloin in the Cave bar. First class , well worth it

We had a lovely family get together. We were made really welcome. The food pack that with us. Was a nice welcome surprise. The apartment was just right for us lovely view over the village. The restaurant being right next to the apartment was very good but no noise at all. Truly lovely. Leak family.

Tricky to find in the dark until you happen upon the arch - ie no signs to it in the village or on the road from New Machar. We were staying with my son in Newmachar, so we didn't go anywhere else. We'll be back in the summer, so ask me all of this again & I'll tell you, but I suspect that if you weren't into golf, the hotel would seem a bit biased towards golf. So a tennis or bowling green, something to do if its raining e.g. a dart board & a pool table - otherwise its all a bit too hushed tones & posh, but there's not enough buzz when you go into the bar? Oh, and the wifi in the stables need a repeater to make it fast enough to stream. If the TV in the room had had iPlayer ie was a smart TV, we could have watched Tina Turner on it rather than on my phone with buffering!...but these a trivial details. If this hotel was in Edinburgh or Glasgow it would kick every other hotel's butt!

The hotels position in the golf course was fantastic, view from our room were great! Unfortunately covid spoilt the ambiance of what was a pleasurable short break. The evening meal of beef was excellent not as sure of the other food, it was a hit or miss according to your taste. The Australian barossa red wine was very good but that's my taste! An all round good hotel for a short break.

it is a nice hotel - reception staff are very pleasant.

it is a nice hotel - reception staff are very pleasant. Corona arrangements take a little off the experience However we found the service at breakfast very poor with orders taking far too long. Service staff forgetting orders or making promises to return with tea and such and not doing so at all No marmalade available for three days -other random shortages - for which there seemed no reason My room-quite a nice suite with a lovely big bathroom - however spoilt by giant green exit sign which bathed the whole room green at night - who wants to sleep as if in an elevator?

Breakfast was a very well presented continental breakfast. Best fresh fruit salad i have ever had.....well selected ripe and no need for sugar. The central location of hotel in the NE is good for work and touring, with many diverse attractions nearby. Friendly and considerate staff. Bedroom very spacious clean and comfortable

Everything was very high quality. The summer house, although a bit unusual, was great. Oldmeldrum is a lovely village with great shops. The WiFi worked really well. The kids loved the attic room with the fairy lights. The shower was fantastic. The kitchen was well-equipped.

We had a lovely room, with a great shower and bath. The bar is worth visiting for a cocktail or 2.. The grounds and the main hotel were picturesque and we saw a red squirrel! Fantastic cooked breakfast.
