Lovely quiet location on a rural lane with dairy cattle in the fields next to the house and magnificent country views on all sides- and yet only a few miles drive from the A30. Breakfast was fantastic: cereals, fruit, yoghurt, hot croissants and toast with plenty of jam/marmalade, butter, fresh milk and tea/coffee.

Comfortable, recently refurbished, central location with free parking. Old pub with plenty of character.
Built around the famous South Zeal Menhir Standing Stone, this 12th-century manor house is set in its own 4-acre monastery gardens in a pretty Devonshire village.
I loved the three rooms that made up this overnight stay.
I loved the three rooms that made up this overnight stay. The fridge was a massive bonus. Very comfortable and carefully decorated. The surrounding countryside was beautiful. Loved watching the cows in the morning just outside the property!

The town itself didnt seem to have alot going for it.
The town itself didnt seem to have alot going for it. Most shops were shut and the food options were poor. I stood at the bar at the Fountain Inn for 10 minutes waiting for a staff member to appear and no one did.

Okehampton was a cosy little place. The people seem exceptionally friendly.
Ma'ida was a good meal and you can bring your own booze from the nearby Lidl... if you're exceptionally stylish, like what we are.

Okehampton is typical of most small market towns, there are a couple of nice pubs, not many places to eat except the two pubs and takeaways. The Town Hall, opposite the White Hart, is a beautiful building, there are some pleasant walks around Simmons Park and the Castle is worth a visit. The railway has reopened with trains running to Exeter which is fantastic, although when we went, the train we were going to come back on was cancelled, which was annoying when there is only one an hour.

We picked up a local leaflet for Okehampton from our hotel, which gave an enjoyable walk around the main points of the town and brief details of some history. There are numerous coffee shops, hotels and other places for a coffee and/or snack. Lots of independent shops in the little arcades and along the high street.
Lovely stay in rural Devon overlooking Dartmoor..
Friendly host made me very welcome !
She made me some fresh bread for breakfast which was tasty.
I don't eat cooked breakfast but there was plenty of choice with fruit compote and yogurt and various cereals .
It was very clean and I enjoyed my stay, although the weather was cold and wet.
Would highly recommend Gooseford farm , and for travellers it is easy to get to off the A30
The breakfasts were excellent, but could have been served on hotter plates.
Centre of Okehampton - convenient for the shops. Close to Dartmoor & surrounding area.
Room spacious & very comfortable.
Friendliness of the hotel staff...brilliant welcome.
Separate hotel and reception from the main pub area.
Room was very well equipped and comfy and quiet.
