Copthorne Hotel Newcastle, hotel in North Shields

Overlooking the River Tyne, the Copthorne Hotel Newcastle is located less than a mile from Newcastle Train Station. It offers an on-site fitness room.

Ioved the location and it had doors in the back and front of the building—Could choose to walk along the water or in more of the city for the beginning of the walk. The beds were incredible and I wish I could’ve slept on these beds my entire vacation. The staff was professional and courteous. They even helped store our luggage so we could take an afternoon tour, check out and then get or luggage to the train. The water was hot, and the pressure was great. The towels and bedsheets were of quality and everything was clean. I loved the smell of their soap options. If I come back, I’m staying here again. I didn’t get the breakfast option, but I’m sure it would’ve been amazing. The room seemed more spacious than other places I stayed. There were enough electrical outlets, hairdryer, coffee, and tea options with a biscuit. I think they might even have laundry? There’s even a refrigerator in the room! Loved it!!

I know North Shields well, it’s slowly been redeveloping and I’m wondering what will replace the wilko next in the beacon centre. My kids love this place. The fish quay further down the steep hill with plenty of fisheries, and fishing boats. A small beach that can overlook the ocean and sometimes the cruise ship. And the fact you can hop on a ferry that’ll take you into South Shields aswell.

The only negative is the entrance is on a main road at a junction but once inside the flat you are in a lovely calm space. Great for a family holiday and really comfortable to stay in. The area around the flat is well worth exploring. Lots of lovely parks and beautiful terraced streets.

Best place visited was Cragside near Morpeth. Wonderful house and massive grounds spent a whole day there. Went over to Holy Island and did the scenic coastal drive. North Shields is up and coming Northumberland Square is a lovely Georgian area a short walk from the apartment. We didn't get to do everything we wanted to so will have to come back

A trip down memory lane, North Shields has changed a lot over the past twenty or thirty years ( as all places do) but there are still little reminders of its history. A walk down the fish quay and onto the beach is refreshing and brings back many memories!
