There was no breakfast, given the price. It was very easy to go to Sainsbury's and buy some items. What an excellent base to have a look at Galloway and it was very easy to find my way around. I need to return and explore the surroundings even more.

Newton Stewart, or the low land forests, does not show up in what to do in Scotland. This is a hidden gem. Nice town with lots to do in and around. Historic Museum is excellent if you like that stuff (I do). Nearby park and hills offers great hiking and biking opportunities, we went on two 3-5 KM hikes. Kennedy castle gardens was an unexpected treat and opportunity to get more exercise. This was a nice two day stop between the Irish Ferry and Glasgow.

We were told that Newton-Stewart was a charming village, even though it is very out of the way. We were looking for nearby accommodation from the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse. Turns out that the lighthouse was the only good thing on offer. We hired a night sky ranger to visit the dark sky park in Galloway, which was very cool. However, the village seemed shabby and most things were closed for dinner on a Sunday after 6.

Great central location for staging adventures.
Great central location for staging adventures. Many castles and gardens locally. Family history center in Dumfries was amazing. The crown hotel had very delicious reasonably priced food: recommended by hosts.
We booked for the location so we could get the dogs away from any firework noise. The location was perfect for this reason. The area was so quiet (only 3 caravans and. Cottage) so great for a peaceful getaway. With only the cows 4 feet away for company. Newton Stewart is only a mile and a half away though. The hosts were great and left us to it but were there when we needed them (to send on a left behind wallet).
The cottage was in a quiet area outside of town but with easy access to Newton Stewart and to hiking and biking areas in Galloway Forest Park. Also near a fun gin distillery and good restaurants in town. Graeme was very responsive and helpful. We couldn't get the heaters to work and he came over quickly to resolve the problem. The house is a fairly recent remodle and all the facilities were in excellent condition.
Our room was beautifully decorated and looked out onto the river. The bed was very comfortable and the room was warm. Breakfasts were freshly cooked to order and very good. We arrived quite late in the evening but Nicole didn't mind and made us feel welcome. We had a good evening meal at The Ship Inn nearby. Newton Stewart is in an excellent position to travel and sightsee around Galloway.
The staff were excellent and i must say i have never felt so welcome in a hotel, nothing was too much and they were so accommodating, the food was excellent in the evening as was the breakfast
