There was no breakfast, given the price. It was very easy to go to Sainsbury's and buy some items. What an excellent base to have a look at Galloway and it was very easy to find my way around. I need to return and explore the surroundings even more.

The park was lovely and quiet and very dog friendly. You could view the loch from the dinning table and veranda. Everything you needed was in the property as it was very homely. Having 2 loos was a bonus for us.

There was a good selection of shops to browse and some pleasant cafes. Newton Stewart was well supplied with supermarkets which is great for self caterers. We visited off season in mid October so some restaurants were closed.
There was a walking guide with several walks around Newton Stewart which was helpful for dog walking. Galloway Forest Park was close by for longer walks.

Newton Stewart itself is a little tired and the area in general needs investment. It is a beautiful part of Scotland with a fabulous coastline and a very unspoiled feel. Dumfries and Galloway could be a tourism jewel for Scotland with careful investment and management.

Newton Stewart, or the low land forests, does not show up in what to do in Scotland. This is a hidden gem. Nice town with lots to do in and around. Historic Museum is excellent if you like that stuff (I do). Nearby park and hills offers great hiking and biking opportunities, we went on two 3-5 KM hikes. Kennedy castle gardens was an unexpected treat and opportunity to get more exercise. This was a nice two day stop between the Irish Ferry and Glasgow.

We were told that Newton-Stewart was a charming village, even though it is very out of the way. We were looking for nearby accommodation from the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse. Turns out that the lighthouse was the only good thing on offer. We hired a night sky ranger to visit the dark sky park in Galloway, which was very cool. However, the village seemed shabby and most things were closed for dinner on a Sunday after 6.

Spent 5 nights in the lovely house, owners have thought of everything you could need and more we were very thankful for the milk, wine and dog pack provided. House is set in a quiet village location and was a great base for exploring the area. The house was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfy. Having the enclosed garden was a bonus for our dog. Newton Stewart was a 5 mile drive from Creetown.
quiet- no doors slamming; guests were quiet too, during the night, inside & out. beautiful setting surrounded by trees & well kept gardens. Definitely the best place to be in Newton Stewart. It’s a pity the town itself is looking so sad & run-down.
Stayed for two nights everything was perfect. So peaceful and relaxing. Travelled with our two dogs, enclosed garden, nice walks, close to Newton Stewart. Wrens nest had everything required for a relaxing stay.
Good sized and well equipped room. Excellent breakfast and genuinely helpful hosts. The guest lounge and range of guide books was a bonus. Within walking distance of eating places in Newton Stewart.
