Manor House Hotel, hotel in Bishop Auckland

A charming English manor house close to the A1 road. WiFi is free in public areas and food is served all day.

Great staff. Lovely location. Full of character. Travelled with my dog. Extremely dog friendly: actually the most dog-friendly hotel I've stayed in. Pet can stay with you if you eat in the brasserie. Usually you get a "doggy" room. Which I find uncomfortable as I'm allergic to most dogs (I have a low allergy breed). But this room was clean and airy: didn't l use spa - only there for a one night stop over. But would definitely return.

A good overall overnight stay with a small family, room No.

A good overall overnight stay with a small family, room No. 415 was great for the three of us. Was on fourth floor level, we only had overnight bags was a a bit of a walk to it, there was a lift available but great room once we got there. Great pool facilities, good changing facilities, had swimming clothes drying machine always useful. lockers good need a £1 coin to lock for safety pin/key and towels were supplied at the Leisure Club reception good staff. Bar menu a little varied, a little pricey, but food and service good. Excellent breakfast fill yourself. We would stay again. A little dated in side, but functional for our overnight stay. Inside hotel signature needs some improvement. Near the reception there is Ladies Toilets and a disabled Toilets close together, however the Gentlemen's Toilets is further through to the Bar area up a small corridor, but there's no sign to find it from the reception area (one to note). Overall a great stay.

Hotel was lovely and relaxing, clean and warm.

Hotel was lovely and relaxing, clean and warm. Helpful and friendly staff. This hotel was in a fabulous location for sightseeing in the area. Lots of places to visit and some great walks. The menu was quite restrictive for me and also my husband is trying to not eat meat at the moment so his choices were restricted. We would definitely stay here again and I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. Next time we would maybe eat out some evenings in local restaurants.

It's a big rambling hotel with good rooms and bathrooms.

It's a big rambling hotel with good rooms and bathrooms. Not used it but the spa seems excellent. bar staff good and friendly but drinks on the pricey side. Food not that imaginative and limited but the breakfasts are excellent. Rather pricey at certain times of the year for a country hotel; we paid as much for two nights as we did for three earlier in the year. Reception is crowded and small with computer systems driven by steam. Can be noisy with wedding guests. Altogether a good place if youlike the country setting, use the spa and leisure facilities and don't mind paying a bit over the odds for food and drink.
