Millgate House Hotel, hotel in Newark-on-Trent

Millgate House Hotel offers modern rooms with attached bathroom with a bar. Newark town center is within walking distance. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, telephones and tea/coffee facilities.

The location was perfect for walking into town and exploring along the river. It’s a really lovely hotel but could do with being updated. The staff are lovely and were more than happy to accommodate our needs. Special shout out goes to the night manager/barman who kept us amused into the wee small hours and served the best gin and tonic!! I’m now hooked on Whitley Neil rhubarb and ginger gin! 👍

Ashiana, hotel in Newark-on-Trent

Just 10 minutes’ drive from Newark-on-Trent, Ashiana is located in scenic North Muskham. Set in a period country inn, the hotel has free parking and a stylish Indian restaurant.

Was exactly what was needed. A place to stay during a festival. Comfy bed, hot shower, etc. There's no frills, but it's clean and comfortable. I can also recommend the food the restaurant serves of an evening if you like curry. Very good indeed.

The Lord Nelson Inn, hotel in Newark-on-Trent

Located 14 miles from Lincoln University, The Lord Nelson Inn offers 4-star accommodations in Newark-on-Trent and has a garden, a restaurant and a bar.

From the minute we arrived to the minute we left there was a warm inviting atmosphere. The owners and staff were lovely.. The room was well decorated and spotlessly clean. We had all the facilities we required. The bed was comfortable which added to having a good night's sleep. We eat there on both nights as the food was of such good quality and staff were very efficient and friendly.

Newark-upon-Trent had all you could ask for and a fantastic location for transport and seeing further a-field. If you want to experience a real english town, Newark is for you. It covers all you should expect and ask for, of a relaxing break, but with the bonus of modern cities close by.

Newark is a lovely little market town with a lovely market square. Lots of nice local shops and no large department stores or shopping centre. Lots of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Lots of historical buildings and also an 11th C castle. Civil war museum is well worth a visit. Great little town. Will definitely return.

Newark can easily be covered in a weekend.

Newark can easily be covered in a weekend. The National Civil War centre is worth a quick visit as part of the town Civil War Trail. A good range of pubs, bars and eateries and quite a few independent shops and boutiques. Elements of the town are sadly in decline but, with the river, it's still picturesque enough to explore and wander.

It was just a break of journey for us, but there are many dining options a short drive away. We were also told as we left that if we fancied a take away of some sort, we could arrange delivery and Shaan and Sef would set up a table for us to eat it there in comfort. We may well try that next time we stop.

We were given a warm welcome and shown to our room. The room was clean and bright and contained everything you may need during a stay. We ate at the hotel in the evening and the food was fantastic; all locally sourced and freshly cooked. The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. There is a car park and the location is perfect for exploring Newark.
