Our room, in a nearby cottage, was very light and comfortable. Plenty of space, very comfy bed, armchairs, variety of teas and coffees provided and good selection of lights. The bathroom was also a good size, very modern and clean and with a supply of lovely toiletries. The team were very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Holiday Inn Express Colchester, an IHG Hotel, hotel in Mistley

Breakfast was good value for money. Bathroom little small. Staff was nice at the reception however she offered chocolate to the people on reception before us as they were member but did not offer it to us knowing we were members too. I ignored and didn’t confront as my husband would get angry so I left it. I do believe it was because we were Muslim. But overall stay was good and value for money.

Pheasant Suites, hotel in Mistley

The Pheasant Retreat and Pheasant Lodge and Pheasant Suite are situated in the grounds of Balls Farm, a 17th-century farmhouse surrounded by fields and wildlife.

The suite was a self contained building with superb decor throughout. Situated in a quiet spot away from the main road. Directions were superb and parking as directed. The suite was light, airy and spacious with a lovely patio/terrace outside and a lovely little garden with lounger’s. We had a wonderful comfortable stay. If you like a bath this is your heaven, I have never seen such a big bath 🛁. All in all would definitely stay again and highly recommend

Mistley is small but has a great history.

Mistley is small but has a great history. It is easy to walk into Manningtree but driving there is also easy, taking only a few minutes. There are great views across the estuary and plenty of bird life for those interested in birdwatching. There is a railway station and there are also buses. Many interesting places to visit and lots of walking in the surrounding area. The Mistley Thorn has a very good restaurant and provides food and refreshment all day and into the evening. A very comfortable place to stay.

A quaint old world hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Very creaky floors. Comfortable bed and a warm spacious room. . The clothes rail in the wardrobe of my room was too high for me to hang my clothes up. I had to lay them across the armchair. I would have preferred a slide rail in the shower as I do not like the overhead downpour

Very busy quaint hotel set beside a river, staff were always friendly and happy to help, it’s a great little hotel to stay for a few days sightseeing. Maybe rooms are on the small side but otherwise a very pleasant stay.

    The hotel itself is exceptional.

The hotel itself is exceptional. And it's a ten minute stroll along the estuary to Manningtree. I had lunch at Lucca which seems to be also owned by Mistley Thorn. Again a high standard of food, wine and attentive service. I also visited the North House Gallery in Manningtree which officially opens only on Saturdays but I was able to arrange an appointment on Friday by texting the owner. Well worth a visit. Excellent exhibition called "Shore' with six different artists. Mistley on the main road is pretty unsightly right now, with high fencing erected on the road edge by the estuary.
