FAQs about hotels in Milton Keynes

A Hub of Entertainment

Best known for its concrete cows and legendary roundabout system, Milton Keynes is just off the M1 motorway linking Birmingham and London. Its proximity to the latter triggered its development from village to new town in the 1960s.

Milton Keynes Village still exists, between tranquil Ouzel Valley Park and Willen Lake with its peace pagoda and watersports. Next door, Gulliver’s Land children’s theme park is bordered by the Grand Union Canal, whose banks have cycle and footpaths.

In the town centre is the aptly named MK Hub, an entertainment core near the train station. In addition to accommodation, bars and restaurants, it houses the huge Xscape complex, comprising the Airkix Indoor Skydiving centre, cinemas, and the UK’s largest indoor ski slope. Nearby are the shops of Centre: MK and Midsummer Place.

On the town’s outskirts is the National Bowl entertainment venue, and Bletchley Park, where the German Enigma code was cracked during World War II. To the east Woburn Abbey has a large safari park, while north-west is Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing F1 team are based in Milton Keynes, and the MK Dons are the local football team. The Open University is also headquartered here.

Of the many Milton Keynes hotels, apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com, most have parking and some have swimming pools.

Milton Keynes has a great contrast of the new and old plus lots of wide open spaces. In the city centre there are shops, bars, a theatre, cinema etc. all that you could want from a town. Then there are the old parts like Stoney Stratford where you will find the "Cock and Bull" where the story originates from. However a quick drive or even a walk and you could be anywhere, green open spaces with lots of lakes and out door areas to explore. Loads of free parks for children to explore. There are dedicated cycle and walk ways called red ways so you never have to cross a road, although some people still do! Red way maps are downloadable from the council if you are new to the area. Then there are attractions like the museum, Bletchley Park, Gulliver's Land and Woburn Safari Park.

I just love MK its a vibrant city. I love the layout, shopping, leisure and its parks and lakes (which I've done many marathons around its Enigma Running). Its up there as one of my favourite cities. I've been visiting for over 30 years and it never disappoints.

We’d not visited before but were impressed by the spaciousness and cleanliness of the town. The underpasses were wide, clean and free of graffiti so inviting to use. The MK gallery - the main reason for our visit - is a jewel in the crown.

I chose this hotel because it was situated in a traditional high street and close to the countryside for walks. The Grand Union Canal was literally 5 minutes walk away. The hotel was clean, comfortable and good value for money. A nice breakfast was included in the price. Staff were nice also, particularly the lady who cooked breakfast. Fenny Stratford is an interesting place to visit and only a short bus ride away from central Milton Keynes. There was free wi-fi in my room too. Overall a pleasant stay.

Excellent all round. We cannot find fault with this exceptional hotel. For a short stay in Milton Keynes you cannot choose better. Central, yet with a lovely view of Campbell's Park and fields beyond. Ultra stylish top floor restaurant and bar, comfortable rooms and a friendly atmosphere, we'd definitely return.
