The biggest problems were the awful mattress, tiny TV and the noise.. also on the booking with you,it said that breakfast was available at £6:50 per person.... But they didn't do any breakfast,so we had to go into the town to find a café.

Lovely part of the world.
Lovely part of the world. Given it's proximity to US air bases it's a pity that levels of 'service' commonplace in America don't appear yet to have rubbed off on the locals. Town has everything you need and more. Take time to suss out the backways... you'll avoid traffic queues.

The shower didn't heat up when I was trying to get ready at 6am - I tried it for several minutes on various settings. The room was freezing when I got in - single glazed windows, and the only source of heat is an old noisy aircon unit that needed about 2 hours to get the room warm. There was a function on (a very small function from what I could see), so the restaurant wasn't open for dinner - I should have been notified of this in advance. I had to go out to get a takeaway instead of eating in. The staff are pleasant, but not particularly friendly or helpful - you feel as though they're doing you a favour by serving you... The rooms are quite old fashioned and need some TLC (trim missing on the bedside tables). Lighting used is old energy saver bulbs which take ages to brighten, especially in the bathroom.

We regularly visit Mildenhall for family reasons.
We regularly visit Mildenhall for family reasons. It is a small attractive town with a splendid church with an angel ceiling. Like most historic towns, the attractive shopping areas of old has been a little blighted by recent developments in retail. However, the immediate environs is full of rural interest. The town also provides good road links.

Location was great for visiting Lakenheath airfield.
Location was great for visiting Lakenheath airfield. Car park adequate and safe. Hotel desperately in need of a refit especially the exterior. Good breakfast cafe next door. Nothing to see in Mildenhall itself. Better to try Newmarket to stay at.

Lovely property and host, very approachable.
Lovely property and host, very approachable. Comfy bed and well resourced kitchen.
Liked · Beautiful rural location and v quiet lovely host, comfy bed, we slept well, the host sorted out a query, quickly, loved the dog. Would happily stay again, the Millenium walk along the river is a beautiful one and there are maps around Barton Mills to show the route.
Disliked · There is no house sign with Apple Cottages on it or a house number as an alternative so we had to search the length of the road to find the property and then work it out from a google maps picture.
The breakfast was good but not as substantial as the photo on the basket showed; we were given at a reduced price however.
Needs salt and a pepper grinder in the kitchen.
We sat in the garden which was delightful.
The host was friendly and welcoming. The room was a good size, very clean and comfortable. Nice bathroom, good shower. Complimentary biscuits, juice and fresh milk in a mini fridge were a nice touch. The property is about 10-15 minutes walk from the centre of the village of Mildenhall.
Loved the hotel style and location - a beautiful old building. All the staff we met were amazing and very helpful..
Breakfast was fabulous - full Suffolk cooked breakfast and the cold buffet selection.
Would stay again despite the room being too warm.
The Hotel weren’t doing breakfast but guided me to a cafe literally at the entrance to their car park.
The room was larger than I expected and more importantly very clean. The management were very helpful too.
Host was very welcoming and willing to help- especially when the trip switch flicked the power off!
Nice, quiet road locstion, just a short walk from shops and eating and drinking places in Mildenhall.
