The breakfast was very good, however go early as I went towards the end of service and not all items had been replenished and so were not available. The room was a lovely size and good value for the money.

We had a lovely meal in the restaurant it was in a very nicely decorated room, you could see the chefs cooking. I expect it would be lovely in Summer as the garden looked amazing. The food and service were both good. There was a good choice on the menu and the food was tasty and well presented. We also had breakfast and it was good too. Only one small thing, we had the granola, there was far too much (half of the amount would have been sufficient) and it lacked yoghurt, had to ask for more as it was very dry. We stayed in the outside room as there was three of us we had two rooms, both were very nicely decorated. There was nothing to criticise, the bathroom was amazing and the room I stayed in with my husband had a door to a garden outside, again would be lovely in the summer. My son had the upstairs room and it was also very nice. It was a very short walk to where we ate and had breakfast. There was no car parking but we parked at a small car park nearby. Staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly during our stay.

We should have been asked if either of us would have difficulty in climbing stairs and walking long distances to our room. We should have been told that the fixed radiator did not work and that the second, portable type, was in the room for that reason. The window in the room needed to be draught proofed. We were there on a very cold night.

Well situated for cycling along the Kennet and Avon Canal.
Well situated for cycling along the Kennet and Avon Canal. Good rail links both west and east. Attractive countryside away from the A4, e.g. back roads to Hungerford which we cycled. Newbury Centre very pretty. Best approached by bike rather than taking car into the town.

Overall a likable hotel in a great location.
Overall a likable hotel in a great location. I thought the grounds back of house were a little scruffy and untidy and I banged my car on the crash barriers around a shed when I reversed (Couldn't see them in my mirror).
Good friendly staff and manager.

Hotel staff were absolutely fine. What really let them place down was the refusal of their delivery driver to move his Van in the morning to allow guests out of the car park to get work. Even after getting one of the draft members to ask him to 3 metres to allow exit. Then deliberately slowing his movements and mocking once he had eventually finished. Absolutely disgusting!!
A warm welcome was received from all the staff for our group. We were well looked after at our evening meal and breakfast. The hotel was clean and had everything that we needed for our overnight stay. Twin rooms had two proper beds, which was great for our group.
Amazing hotel, staff lovely. There was a fan in the room but no A/C it was a really hot weekend so was in need of A/C but in all was a lovely stay. Will definitely be returning
