I would highly recommend the Coverbridge Inn that you can walk along the river to probably about 2 miles away. This pub is friendly and a traditional pub with great ales and delicious home cooked food

Picturesque little market village with the added interest of several race horse stables in the location.
A walk up to the gallops early in the morning to watch the horses train is definitely worthwhile, as is a visit to the medieval castle.

Visited The Forbidden Corner which was great fun.
Visited The Forbidden Corner which was great fun. We had a light lunch at the cafe on site, which was nicely presented. Evening meal was taken at the Three Horseshoes which was about a 15 minute drive away. Called in at Aysgarth Waterfalls on the way home the following day. The Forbidden Corner was very busy as it was the school holidays, however as visits are timed, I think this helps when planning a visit.

Middleham is a lovely place to stay if you like history as...
Middleham is a lovely place to stay if you like history as there is Middleham Castle right there, plus a lovely mediaeval church, St Mary's and St Akelda's. It's not far to many other great locations such as Aysgarth Falls (where the fight scene in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves was filmed), Bolton Castle, Jerveaulx Abbey, Fountains Abbey, Sheriff Hutton, Ripon, etc. The only negative is that it is sometimes difficult to get a late meal in Middleham itself, however there are plenty of other eating places nearby if you have a car. The Richard III B&B does do great food and the fish and chip shop is also very good. It is hilly, so be prepared to huff and puff up the hill to the castle! And, if you have kids, don't miss The Forbidden Corner - the weirdest place on earth - only about 3 miles away. Set aside about four hours!

We stayed here for the weekend to celebrate my birthday and it was absolutely beautiful. The whole cottage is stunning, fresh, clean and has a really cosy feel. The beds are really comfortable and the linen and towels are great quality. The village of Middleham is so pretty with some nice little pubs, convenience store and fish and chip shop. It's a perfect place to stay if like us you want to visit the amazing waterfalls and stunning villages close by. we will definitely return. Thankyou
We were made very welcome. The room was lovely. A nice touch was a small fridge with a bottle of milk and a bottle of water. Tea and coffee were in small jars, so supplies were excellent. The bathroom had large dispensers of soap, shampoo and conditioner - much better than the usual ones found in hotels.
Breakfast was freshly cooked, well presented and very tasty. We would certainly stay here again.
Peaceful, quaint cottage, well furnished and spotless. Very comfortable bed - but bedroom quite small.
Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and the welcome pack was, well, very welcome.
Middleham is well placed for exploring the Dales and if you love horses/racehorses you'll be in heaven!
We enjoyed our stay here.
Everything, the hotel was lovely. Food was excellent, evening meal and breakfast, best scrambled egg ever, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
