All food was good. Room- small and very little hanging space for clothes - generally OK for one night. Bathroom was very tight - no heating as radiator was defective or isolated. Reported such but no one available to fix before morning. Fan noises from adjacent bathrooms and/or downstairs very loud humming.

Burnside Cottage, hotel in Mey

Situated just 19 km from Sinclair's Bay, Burnside Cottage provides accommodation in Wick with access to a garden, a bar, as well as room service.

Being met by the owner on arrival. Very easu access to the room we had. Car parking on site at no cost. A lovely country view from our room. Very peacfull and quiet location but easy to get to from the main road. Now the very best part. We ordered breakfast on arrival for the next day and were informed that it would be served in our room within the breakfast time slot and picked a set time. In the room is a small table and chairs right by the window with a great view. The next morning the owner brought breakfast on a lovely trolley and we sat and had breakfast in peace and quiet. The breakfast was lovely certainly enough to start the day well. By the way an evening meal is available also served in the room but must be ordered the day before arrival, they send you a menu at time of booking for breakfast and dinner. Good selection. The room is very nicely decorated, very clean and a good size. The bed was very comfortable, bathroom very nice. We have already planned another visit next year !!! The owner is very nice and makes you feel at home right away

The proprietors Euan & Emma were excellent company and very attentive to guests' needs. The hotel had an excellent menu with accompanying wines, beers, spirits, if required. The hotel also had an extensive range of locally-produced spirits. The accommodation was excellent and well-equipped. The only down-side was the lack of TV reception - although being without TV was somewhat of a blessing!

Very good small hotel very convenient for the Castle of Mey and the NC500. Very welcoming hosts who went out of their way to make our stay a happy one. Comfortable room with everything you need and tasty home cooked food both in the evening and at breakfast. Loved the beef stew with puff pastry top! Lovely, cosy well stocked bar next to the restaurant where you can while away the evening.

A very homely and friendly hotel. Close to Castle Mey and other attractions by the coast. Excellent evening meal and breakfast. The whisky flight was quite educational, we wish we had the time and stamina to try another!
