The George & Dragon Hotel, hotel in Long Melford

Situated in a small town, this inn provides real ale, good home-cooked food from local suppliers, a fine wine menu and live entertainment on a regular basis.

The main sleeping area in the family room (Room 10) was spacious and the bed comfortable. The staff were very apologetic and helpful when we had to complain. The management staff were polite and welcoming.

We love the traditional feel of the Bull.

We love the traditional feel of the Bull. A wonderful old coaching Inn which exudes character. The staff are excellent and the food, both breakfast and dinner does not disappoint. Long Melford is a great base to visit the area around including Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Sudbury and Southwold. Long Melford itself has a high street consisting of eateries and independent shops. A lovely place to stay for a relaxing break.

Come by this place by accident and how very pleased we did, what a charming place with such lovely people. Lots of local history, two Manor houses and a church to visit and although we didn't have time to, will definitely revisit

It was very conveniently situated and the hotel was great. Lots of local shops and other antique shops and crafts and great restaurants and coffee shops, etc. The NT property of Melford Hall was very close by and a beautiful place to visit with lovely grounds and a nice tea room.

Long Melford is a beautiful historic town with lots to see and do. A lovely part of Suffolk. I would recommend a stay in Long Melford and a visit to Melford Hall and Kentwell, plus all the lovely little cafes and shops. Would not recommend The Cock and Bell for food or good service as both were appalling. Bad staff and crap food.

Long Melford has a number of antique shops, independent boutiques and cafes. There are two historic Manor houses to visit (check opening times first). A pleasant walk the length of the town reveals interesting architecture spanning the centuries. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Hygge Cafe.

it was situated well for visiting other places.

it was situated well for visiting other places. We ate at the Bull Inn in Long Melford the saturday evening which I would really recommend, food, staff, building could not be faulted. Breakfast was good but it would have been nice to have a menu so you knew what options there was and the tables set up ready with cups /cutlery etc. I wouldn't return because of the cleanliness of the room

The cottage was beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and cosy. The bed was very comfortable and the linen and towels had a real luxury feel. The cottage had everything we needed for a weekend away and bread, butter, marmalades and milk were provided which was a nice added bonus. The bathroom was amazing! Big freestanding bath and large shower. Long Melford is a lovely quaint town with several pubs, shops and cafes and a perfect starting point to explore Sussex.
