Disappointed overall. Room location not private. Room very dark. Public areas not as expected not comfortable. Breakfast major let down...not in building but across road in a cafe. Very average breakfast. Not value for money. Would not return.

We loved the beautiful brick walls and ceiling. The bed was comfortable. The use of the outdoor hot tub and sauna was lovely. The gardens would be so beautiful in the spring/summer and it was lovely to see birds and animals in the grounds.

Lovely home. All the conveniences you could need and a lovely host. We forgot our food and water bowl for our pup and Hamish brought some over. The house was nice and toasty with the heating on when we got there. The bed was very comfy and the tub upstairs was great for a soak. .

I was in llantwit Major visiting friends and family as I lived in llantwit for 50 years.
It is a lovely town, has loads of history and is a very pretty area as is all the Vale of Glamorgan.
I would thoroughly recommend a visit here.
Many lovely beaches along the coast, from Barry Island to Porthcawl. Cardiff City is 30 minutes drive from Llantwit and is a beautiful city.

Llantwit Major is a small town with a good mixture of shops and other facilities. There are a number of restaurants and pubs. Food on Sunday evenings was take-away only in September.
The town is a mixture of old and new buildings.
The picturesque coast and beach is a 10 minute drive away.

We really, really enjoyed our 1 night stay at The Great...
We really, really enjoyed our 1 night stay at The Great House with Paula as our very welcoming host. The whole property is charming and beautifully styled throughout and has a lovely warm, authentic feel. The Great House was immaculately clean and cosy and was even better in reality than the beautiful photos suggested.
We had a private bathroom just a short walk along the corridor which was warm and modern with all the facilities you expect including a great shower.
Breakfast was superb with English breakfast, cereal, toast and yoghurt and berries. Paula even made us a fantastic hot chocolate as we’re both not coffee or tea drinkers.
Wish we had more time to explore the garden and surrounding area more but we will definitely be back to enjoy the lovely welcome and perfect room.
We called back on our way back to collect an item we had left behind and we got the chance to share our happy news with Paula of our engagement and she very kindly gifted us a bottle of Prosecco which was very sweet.
Don’t hesitate to book a stay at The Great House in Llantwit Major. You won’t be disappointed.

Character town but need care over road humps quite leathal so go slow. Couple of great pubs and more original . Had full on meal in The Swan and reasonably priced. Main course more than enough so very reluctantly couldn’t indulge in the sweet. Will be revisiting that is for sure and explore town and walks nearby. Not place if all facilities for young families needed.

Llantwit Major has a lot of history.
Llantwit Major has a lot of history. It was included on a radio four travel programme some years ago. We ate at the Vesuvius Italian restaurant excellent value. There are good beaches I.e Ogmore beach and Barry just down the road past the airport.

Everything about the stay was perfect. The property evoked images of an Historical Britain, the type where if the walls could talk situation. The welcome was warm, the breakfast was delicious and ample and the acceptance of the young children gave a real family feel to my stay. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
1. Near and quiet.
2. The town of Llantwit Major is lovely. Easy access to restaurants and supermarkets.
3. Plenty of places for walking, particularly the coastal pass. Stunning views.
4. The host is very nice and helpful.
5. Feel like home.
Super convenient in the heart of the town. Lovely and warm, full of character. Well equipped and furnished. A much better solution for a small group than a hotel or B&B.
Very pleasant and comfortable accommodation conveniently located for local roads and a 10-15 minute walk into the centre of the beautiful Llantwit Major village
