I especially like the location of the hotel. It is very close to the castle and cathedral. This was my second stay at Castle Hotel, and plan to stay there in the future.

Lincoln was a powerhouse of medieval England and retains amazing monuments from that period. In the Uphill district is the castle built for William the Conqueror. Inside its an original copy of the Magna Carta and its ramparts offer fabulous city views. Across the cobbled square which houses the large Christmas market is huge Lincoln Cathedral whose unusual façade features 2 tall towers, while another at its centre overlooks the Bishop’s Palace.
Connecting the cathedral quarter with the Downhill district is aptly named Steep Hill, a narrow street lined with unique shops and historic buildings including the Jew’s House. Even older are the Roman Newport Arch, Mint Wall and the well on Bailgate.
This road slopes down to meet the River Witham at High Bridge, a stone-arched structure with a half-timbered building atop that is the oldest of its kind in England. Lincoln boat trips depart from the Brayford Pool just west.
Another monument is the 18th-century Ellis Mill, opposite the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The Collection combines an archaeology museum and art gallery, while The Lawn has a conference centre and the Joseph Banks Conservatory, displaying artefacts he brought back from adventures with Captain Cook.
Booking.com’s Lincoln accommodation covers luxury waterfront hotels, guest houses by the university and cheap apartments near the train station.

The castle and cathedral were amazing.
The castle and cathedral were amazing. The Steep Hill was a little too much for us oldies but the town (shops) at the bottom was very nice. We could have spent longer, there is plenty of history there, but only spent a day in Lincoln on our way to somewhere else, but the town was compact for walking and very pretty. I would also recommend the Bomber Command museum just outside Lincoln - very interesting. Plenty of restaurants and pubs for eating of all prices and sorts.

On reflection, it's better to stay at the top of Steep Hill rather than the bottom. The area at the top and around the Cathedral has a lot of old style charm and is very pretty.
There's some good stuff in the main part of the down (down the hill) though and it's got some good restaurants and shops.

Lincoln is a great city, there are lots of shops and things to do and places to visit when you get there but beware, most of these close around 5.30 so if you’re expecting a late-night experience you’ll be disappointed.

Lincoln Cathedral is an architectural marvel, considering its great age. The exhibition covering the renovation of the frieze on the Wesr Front was fascinating.
The castle was a surprise with really well-preserved features such as the prison cells and chapel we were impressed by the walkway round the whole perimeter of the walls, allowing extensive views.Really interesting independent shops near the cathedral and a unique street layout running down the aptly named Steep Hill.
Plenty of tea-shops and a good cafe at the cathedral.

Compact, historic city which can be enjoyed in one full day or over a standard weekend. Beautiful cathedral, castle and Steep Hill medieval architecture with quirky independent shops, restaurants and historic pubs. Note: not an easy city to explore by wheelchair unless you have a mobility scooter, I would d imagine. If you’re not good at hills, stay near the cathedral or castle at the top of the hill.

great location, very nice clean en-suite room. I stayed for a couple of nights over the weekend. very welcoming staff, the owner Darren was very considerate and was very helpful in efficiently getting through the contactless checkin. in my opinion this guest house is way better than the local chain hotels, has more character and is way cheaper in comparison. situated only about 15 mins walk from the city centre is an ideal location. would highly recommend and would definitely stay there again if I’m ever that way again!
Location near Steep Hill excellent. Staff very friendly.

Parking available at the hotel, £10 for 24hrs. Located 10minute walk to the 'Engine Shed' where I went to a gig. Hotel clean, nice bar area and clean room. Competative on price and would stay again if visiting Lincoln. Late checkout at 12:00 is always nice!
