Very well located. I arrived late on a wet Friday evening and the place was humming - full of locals and guests having a good time. Had to leave straight after a large, and good, breakfast the next morning so did not get to spend much time in the hotel. But the best bit was yet to come.
It took me until Monday morning to work out I had left an iPad in my room. I rang the hotel and was expecting the usual run around. But Amy on reception could not have been more helpful and efficient. She arranged to get it sent back to me, initially at her own expense because the person with access to their accounts was away. I have paid her back and will stay again. Very personal service.

Our room was lovely, we had an issue with the television, but this was sorted. The food in the resturant was very good. The breakfast was continental which was plentiful. The cooked breakfast was available for £7.00 this was worth it, I woud have liked paoched eggs on toast but I thought £5.99 was overpriced. They have a Sunday carvery in the afternoon if you want one very reasonable.

The breakfast was the best I have ever eaten. I have eaten many breakfasts, some of them in hotels much swankier and more expensive than this. This blew them all out of the park. From the home made granola with stiff organic yoghurt to the freshly baked bread with home made jam and the best marmalade I've tasted to the delicious full Scottish with unbelievably creamy scrambled eggs, I cannot praise this breakfast enough. I'm very sad that I was not able to finish it, just due to the generous quantities, as that meant I needed to stop eating it. There were lots of other good things too. There were yummy home baked biscuits in the room, and also a map of a walk you could do right from the hotel (which we did, and it was a good walk). The staff were friendly and attentive without being annoyingly persistent, which is a hard balance to strike. The hotel itself is beautiful, and there's a lovely lounge with squishy sofas to sit on. Our room was comfy and cosy. Dinner was also delicious. It was just great. Go stay.

I have been in overrated properties, this one wasn’t for the price. That matters,
Leadhills is a quiet small village. There is a museum to visit on set days. It even has a golf course. The Hopetoun Arms Hotel is the highest residential hotel in Scotland. Perfect rural location, friendly staff, comfortable and spacious room and delicious food. Highly recommend the Hopetoun Arms Hotel.

The Hopetoun arms was a small country house hotel rather than pub with friendly and caring staff. I was very comfortable there as a solo traveller. Plenty of local history and an interesting village to walk around with paths direct onto the moors

Leadhills is a small community in a beautiful setting.
Leadhills is a small community in a beautiful setting. There is a Pub and local store though Moffat isn't too far away . There is a Primary School aswell. It's an old mining village with small miner cottages aswell as a few grander properties. There is a cemetery worth looking around, lots of walks across the hills and a great place to unwind.
