Although this is a little off the beaten track it's a diversion well worth taking.. the roooms were lovely, the staff were fab, breakfast was everything we could have hoped for and the evening meal in the restaurant was amazing....and, to be fair, the scenery on the detour was pretty amazing too!

Comfortable room and bed. On site restaurant was excellent. We had a number of very tasty, well cooked meals which were very good value for money. Friendly staff. Good position to visit Lincoln, Derby and Nottingham. Very clean accommodation.

This is one of the cleanest comfiest places I think iv ever stayed and to be honest one of the cheaper options I didn’t expect much coming in here but omg did it impress shell is amazing and helpful the whole place was spotless the cake was to die for honestly I will definitely be staying here again if I ever needed to be in that area there was parking available and sky tv which is nice to have and it felt homely

Loved our time in Laxton exceptionally pretty village with the DOVECOT INN serving really good food.We did miss a shop but Southwell a short drive away made up for it with an amazing Deli both eat-in or takeout and artisan bakeries. There are convenience stores within a few miles of Laxton so it’s not at all problematic if you have a car.

There are info boards all around regarding the past, mainly referring to the strip farming process.
Some nice little walks around, taking in the lovely countryside.
The Dovecote Inn is very good, welcoming, with lovely food and drink!

Pretty, quiet but interesting village in Nottinghamshire.
Pretty, quiet but interesting village in Nottinghamshire. Has its own history and is well worth an explore and a walk around if in that region. Close enough to the A1 but use your sat nav!! Dovecote Inn has good well-equipped rooms to stay and a small visitor centre re the village's unique history.
Fabulous little place for a getaway! Cosy, clean, peaceful, everything you need and in Samantha, a fantastic host! She brought us an amzing breakfast of choice, with everything fresh. Lovely facilities inside the cottage, which is detached from the main house, and so quiet! Laxton is a beautiful village and the pub across the road, The Dovecote, serves excellent fare and is warm and friendly. Super and highly recommended!
The Dovecot is a traditional, friendly pub with rooms in a quiet converted barn just across the car park. The rooms were very comfortable and nicely decorated. The food was very good and great value too.
We got excellent service from the start to the finish of our stay.
Laxton village is a pretty place with a fascinating history.
The Dovecote Inn was a gem of a find in the beautiful village of Laxton. The hosting team were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. The accommodation was a very high standard, spacious and clean. The food in the restaurant was excellent. We would not hesitate to return.
