Glenskirlie Castle Hotel, hotel in Banknock

Located in Banknock, 17 miles from Glasgow Cathedral, Glenskirlie Castle Hotel has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

Just about everything. Clean, comfortable, convenient location just off the motorway - this was ideally located to break up our long journey to the north of Scotland. Some nice touches that give the "old-castle-feel", and set it apart from the bland corporate hotel chains - without compromising on comfort. Good value.

Riggend Farm Bed and Breakfast, hotel in Airdrie

Riggend Farm Bed and Breakfast offers accommodations in Airdrie, 14 miles from Glasgow Cathedral and 15 miles from Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

Friendly welcome on arrival. Room was pleasant, and it was explained that we helped ourselves to breakfast. It is a working farm so expect to see different vehicles and people around who are unconnected to the B&B. We chose not to have breakfast in the morning but the selection of items in the fridge was good.

We were in Kilsyth for just one night on our way further north, so we didn’t spend long in the town. We stayed at The Coachman Hotel which was great, and went to buy a paper from a newsagent in the high street in the morning - just two minutes walk from the hotel. We noticed are some thoughtful details, a nicely painted bridge over a small river, carved stonework, and it all looked very clean and tidy.

Kilsyth is a town full of history from the mines to the weaving. It should really have a museum in the main street. Colzium is a beautiful park with flowers and walks. The main street is a sad shadow of its former self but still worth a walk and a pie from Rennies the bakers.

The location was spot on to visit the attractions and to explore the region .The town itself was typical of many towns across the UK ,run down and in need of some TLC but on a plus point the people were very friendly

The Coachman Hotel is a lively venue with lots going on. The rooms are comfortable, and the bedding was warm with decent pillows. The room was clean and the shower hot, the towels were a bit sctatchy, but we're brilliant white. Breakfast consisted of a cold selection, followed by full Scottish, that was brilliant. The staff were very friendly and helpful, making our stay very pleasant.
