Located in the historical county of Worcestershire, the elegant Hogarths Stone Manor is surrounded by idyllic countryside.

I value the familiar hotel Wendy at breakfast deserves to be applauded - not just this time but every time I visit. Breakfast is good.

Kidderminster is a delightful town near the Severn Valley...

Kidderminster is a delightful town near the Severn Valley and not far from the Shropshire Hills. It has excellent transport links (road and rail) to Birmingham and Worcester; and further afield. It is a centrally located for easy access to the Midlands and the the South West (Bristol / South Wales) or north towards Shrewsbury or west towards Hereford. The headquarters of the Severn Valley Railway are here, offering picturesque journeys by steam train (or heritage Diesel engine) through to Bewdley and Bridgnorth, The historic Worcestershire and Shropshire canal begins its journey Northwards at the nearby Stourport Basin, adjoining the River Severn, to the South of Kidderminster. The canal runs through Kidderminster and the canal-side walks are beautiful. The Town Centre is bustling with shops and leisure facilities, especially alongside the repurposed canal-side wharfs and former industrial premises. Other parts of the town - in common with many other places are - perhaps - in need of some t.l.c. There is a beautiful park towards the South of the town in the Stourport direction. The people here are very friendly and it is a place to return to and explore again and again.

    The experience was very unpleasant.

The experience was very unpleasant. Radiators in rooms in the winter should be working to full capacity, the room had one radiator and it was not working properly. Windows should shut, shower should have hot water. The room was classed as a Junior Suite with a metal four poster bed. There was a very misleading picture on Bookings.com for this room showing the bed, and stating it had a large bathroom, and that it was a Junior Suite. The ROOM WAS A ROOM. NOT A JUNIOR SUITE. THE DESCRIPTION OF THIS ROOM WAS TOTALLY UNTRUE. THERE WAS NO SEPARATE SEATING AREA. IT WAS IN FACT QUITE A SMALL ROOM.

The Severn Valley Railway was the best feature of Kidderminster. Forget trying to get a meal after 6pm, unless you want Chinese, Indian or junk food. Failing to find anywhere, we went for Indian, which was okay. Very friendly staff. I'm not sure why we were shoved by the tolley, next to a huge party though, when there were multiple tables available!

We visited the town centre in the afternoon and it shocked us how the economy had affected Kidderminster. Shops are in decline with about 20% occupancy. Worcester isn’t far away and thriving as a comparison. Kidderminster Council needs to be ashamed for how they have destroyed this town.

Kidderminster has an interesting Carpet Museum, and there is the local safari park nearby, Stourport-upon-Severn and Bewdley with a museum. Most of all it is the home of the Severn Valley Railway (SVR) which goes to Bridgenorth for a nice day out where you can also rise the cliff railway from high town to low town and the river Severn. Oposite the SVR is 'Captain Cod's' recommended for a nice 'fish supper' with batter bits and potato scallops! Kidderminster is also ideal for being within striking distance of the Black Country Museum. We were visiting family and friends in Kidderminster. Next time we will definitely stay in Railway Retreat Number 4 Comberton Terrace, Kidderminster again so we can see our family and friends and also use it as a base to visit the Black Country Museum, Kinver Caves and the SVR.

Surrounding areas of kidderminster very pretty.

Surrounding areas of kidderminster very pretty. Lots of rural attractions to visit. West Midland safari park, stourport -on-seven ( brilliant for families ) and Bewdley amongst others. Ring road around kidderminster can be quite busy.

Cosy little house which is just around the corner from the Severn Valley Railway Experience, which was perfect for us. There is a Tesco Express and a good Indian restuarant across the road which was also handy. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and warmed up quickly once you put the heating on. The host had bought a pint of milk for us which was nice. There was a mirror and chair upstairs at which I could dry my hair and put my make-up on - always an important factor with self-catering or a hotel!

We used this hotel as a stopover between destinations. Lovely building and grounds. All the staff were very professional, helpful and welcoming. Nice quiet room with good views. The room itself was clean and well presented. An added bonus was the fact that the heating in the room worked! A rare thing in British hotels. Food was good and service was excellent. Would definitely go back if we needed a hotel in the area.
