The town is okay but the quay is lovely. Ipswich is a great place to travel out to Suffolk villages and the beautiful countryside. There are not many restaurants serving good vegetarian fare and everywhere has to be booked ahead if travelling at the weekend.

At the time of my stay (arrival should have been around 6 pm) the surrounding roads were a complete nightmare. I got caught up in a gridlock on the nearby roads wasting almost an hour. I this is normal for the local rush hour I would not go back again.

Sad to see the famous White Horse Hotel in ruins.
Sad to see the famous White Horse Hotel in ruins. Charles Dickens stayed there on his reading tours.
The Waterfront is a lively place to visit. The Salthouse Hotel is worth a visit if only to see the interesting artefacts and decor.
The Ancient House is now empty, which is a shame
We enjoyed a performance of Serene at the Wolesley Theatre
The Wetherspoons serves my grand-daughters favourite Vegan sausages and is always good value
My grand-daughter loves to find "treasures " in charity shops and there are plenty. She found a discontinued Jellycat for £3 and found it is now worth £80 !

I was only there for two days so it's a fleeting glimpse but I hated Ipswich!Although there are some nice bits, and plenty of eating places my overall experience was of a once-important place spoilt by too many roads, cars, poverty, rubbish and huge derelict buildings. The Thomas Wolsey is a good pub!

Perfect for a one night work trip to Ipswich. The room was clean and comfortable and the free breakfast bag was a welcome surprise. Microwave in the toom was also useful. The staff member I spoke to was polite and friendly. Exceeded my expectations for a budget hotel, I'd definitely stay again if I was in the area and have recommended it to colleagues.
The staff the person on in the evenings she was amazing .. as my son was in Ipswich having major spine surgery .. I was very upset and she was very comforting ..
but booking.com did not sent my booking over to easy hotel so I had to stay in a twin room instead of double ..
Lovely views over the marina as we had a room with small balcony. Plenty of restaurants nearby and an excellent restaurant at the hotel. Very good breakfast.
