Spent no time in Ilkley other than access and plan to re-visit for local attractions. The Cow & calf pub, up a steep hill from Craiglands Hotel, had a good selection of food, was very busy but rather expensive.

Helpful staff nothing was too much trouble, the food was very good and the room very comfortable clean and tidy. The only downside was there is no lift, which did prove difficult for me Sister who has mobility issues however Charlotte kindly offered to take our bags right up to the room which made a great difference and was much appreciated.

A thriving, friendly small town with a great choice of shops, including its own independent bookshop, cafes, bars, restaurants, cinema, theatre, and leisure facilities, including the fantastic lido. Plenty of walks either along the River Wharfe or up onto the moors, great cycling, and good bus and train connections to go further afield.

We went there as it’s the start of the Dales Way walk to Bowness-on-Windermere so only stayed one night. It’s a lovely town, a bit like a small version of Harrogate with covered walkways and Betty’s tea rooms. Some nice shops and plenty of lovely bars and places to eat.

This hotel is superb. It is in a fantastic location beside the river at Ilkley. It was a very peaceful hotel with free parking. Breakfasts were so good we opted to have evening meals as well during the time we stayed. Will definitely be returning.
