The history and character of the property, and the split between hotel, the pub and river restaurant make it feel homely
The Montagu Arms dates back to 1742. It has a cozy, homely character and picturesque gardens. Staff offer excellent customer care and personal service.
Very nice friendly place. The hythe ferry to Southampton is worth a trip and is only a 15 minute walk to the city centre. The Seashells lounge and bar restaurant serves excellent food, fish pie with freshly cooked vegetables and chicken with potatoes and vegetables worth a visit.
For a day out, try Exbury gardens and steam railway, although the weather wasn’t very good we still had a good time there, the cafe is good and prices reasonable too.

The Boathouse, on the Hythe Marina, is a great place to stop if you are visiting the New Forest and it's many attractions.
There is a small High Street and access to the Hythe/Southampton ferry on the doorstep, should you want to visit the 'city lights'.

We ate Sunday lunch at The Boathouse, which was delicious. The weather was bad so we didnt go far. Another time we will catch the ferry to Southampton. On the way out we saw Hythe town centre and it looked a nice place to wander through. We will be back.

Nice little town with shops, pubs, restaurants and waterfront walks. Even a French market on a Wednesday. A small gauge railway takes you to the end of the pier where you get a ferry to Southampton and return. Lovely!

Hythe is a beautiful and peaceful village not far from several beaches and a stone's throw from the New Forest. The Boathouse Hotel is a beautiful hotel with very friendly staff that are very attentive to one's needs, and their cuisine also is outstanding in my opinion.

Hythe centre is tiny, but will particularly suit older travellers well as it is easy to explore, has a few nice individual shops plus two supermarkets and a few pleasant cafes/restaurants. It is right on the coast with pleasant walks, good views across a busy waterway and has good parking for 2 hour stays.
Bus tours run from there and a ferry takes you across Southampton Water to the City. It is on the edge of the New Forest and not far to Lymington, Beaulieu and Exbury Gardens.

Hotel was in a beautiful location, room was clean, airy and very nice.
Fridge in room was very helpful to keep supplies cool.
Shower great but tray an interestingly lumpy experience !
Evening meal was lovely, good value.
Restaurant area is very basic, staff pleasant but lacking service.
Excellent breakfasts - can't fault them.
Very well located for training with Fire Aid which is a very easy walk from the accommodation
Opposite Lidl which is very convenient.
Short walk in the other direction to Hythe centre
Lovely friendly staff.
Hythe is a nice little village.
Hotel lovely.
Great little ferry close by to Southampton.
Buses just down the road to Southampton etc.
Friendly bus drivers and very cheap ride.
Lovely welcome from Elizabeth and Martin. Great breakfast and ideal location for the Hythe Pier Railway link to Southampton and onwards to Isle of Wight. Big thank you.
We had the large room at the top with 2 king size beds in it - more of a suite than a bedroom. We visit Hythe once a year and this is always our choice of hotel 🤩🤩
