The property was perfect . The location is fantastic for access to the area as it’s central to Houghton-le-Spring. The property was so peaceful and relaxing and has everything you need for a comfortable stay . The property is tastefully decorated and furnished and had a lovely homely feel. The host was fantastic and did everything she could to help make my stay run smoothly. Great communication ! I will definitely be booking the property again on my next visit to see family . A lovely place to stay and breathe. I would recommend to any adult.
We knew abought Houghton le Spring already. We needed to be in Stanley, Durham, and East & West Rainton so hotel was ideally situated.
We used the in-house Restaurants & Bar on 3 nights and the Italian Restaurant across the road ! night..
There are bus routes outside the Hotel - I believe maximum fare of £2.00.

Very central for Durham City and surrounding areas.
Very central for Durham City and surrounding areas. Large free car park which was easy to manouvere. Hotel was lovely, rooms were large and well stocked with toileteries, hairdryer, iron on request which was brought swiftly to our room. The adjoining bar was well stocked with lots of different beers/lagers, wines etc. Food was available in either the bar or the Thai Resturant. Staff are very friendly very helpful, nothing was any trouble to them. Would not hesitate to return.

Set by the side of a busy country road in beautiful countryside close to the A1(M). Fabulous beer garden, plenty of parking and large restaurant.
We stayed in a beautifully appointed room but unfortunately this was at the front of the hotel and the traffic was busy. To be fair, if we hadn't needed the window open so wide due to the warm evening then this would not have been a problem to us.

the hotel was ideally located for where my son and i were visiting and not far from the metro shopping centre. even though our room looked on to the A1 it was not that noisy. rooms were spotless and had tea and coffee facilities and also information book of local attractions near by which was very useful for us as visitors

Now 53, I lived in Houghton le Spring for the first 22 years of my life, with many family and friends still living there. I can honestly say there is nothing for anyone in Houghton unless you are visiting friends or family. It's difficult to sum up a place in a few words, but with the single ATM in the town centre not working when we were there, most food outlets having a hand-scribbled note on the windows reading "Cash Only", and all closed shops on a night feeling the need to have steel shutters, sums it up for me. There are still lots of lovely people living in the town, but I really couldn't recommend it to anyone that doesn't NEED to visit!
