It was beautiful, room was perfectly spacious as we brought our foster dog and crate for her to sleep in. Room was spotless and everything had been thought of! Location was beautiful and peaceful but not too far away from villages and towns. Host was amazing, such a lovely lady! Breakfast was fab!! Nice cold choice and lovely hot food too!! Will definitely stay again when we come up that way, it’s perfect!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Hexham.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Hexham. It was in a great location for exploring Hadrian's wall and the Roman ruins. A trip to Durham went well also. The village is well known to me as I spent many happy times visiting my aunt and uncle here during my childhood. I was very happy to share the area with my husband and our friends. The house was very comfortable and our hostess extremely nice. I wish we had booked the house for longer as I was unwell while there but was very comfortable during the day napping on the couch while everyone else was out exploring. There are no views from the house itself but as the rest of the gang was out and about all day we did not mind that. The houses decor was very eclectic which I enjoyed. The kitchen was well furnished with cookware etc. The coop was just over the bridge which was very handy. I had a bath in the nice big tub which was wonderful. It also had a shower above the tub. There was a walk in shower in the en suite was very nice. I would definitely stay here again.

I was really glad I detoured off the Hadrian Wall Trail and staid in Hexham for a few days. The AD122 bus connects to most of the main Roman Forts/Museums, etc. The cathedral was definitely worth a look. Enjoyed a play the Queen's Hall. It was enjoyable to just walk around the old parts of town. Corbridge is near by too, which is also worth a look.

Hexham is a good spot for those touring in the area with bus and rail links to other counties such as the lakes and the coast. Also the main attraction of Hadrian's wall and all the Roman Forts in the area, as well as local villages.

Hexham is a great town just on the edge of Hadrians Wall.

Hexham is a great town just on the edge of Hadrians Wall. There are some good places and pubs to visit. If you get the opportunity I highly recommend Zyka Indian Restaurant for a meal, to food is out of this world and the staff are great.

Hexham has had a revival in recent years and now has plenty...

Hexham has had a revival in recent years and now has plenty of things happening, local independent shops, cafes, great pubs and restaurants all within easy walking distance and a small theatre. There's plenty of history here so it is worth strolling around the town learning about the past and to see some beautiful historic architecture, it is also a great base for exploring the villages and countryside of Northumberland, Cumberland and the Durham Dales plus Hadrian's Wall of course. This is a walkers/ cyclists/ bikers paradise so if you like getting outdoors in all weathers then visit Hexham. To experience the real Northumberland I would recommend a drive up into the Pennines to Allendale, Allenheads then into the Durham Dales to Rookhope and Blanchland- this is countryside far away from the usual tourist route, it's wild and open with big skies and so quiet. Best not to attempt this in bad weather or in wintery conditions though.

The location of this very romantic looking castle was lovely. On a quiet country road with trees and nice grounds. The room we had (one of the Castle View rooms in the old stables) was comfortable and clean. The food at both breakfast and dinner was delicious. The hotel is handy for visiting Hexham, Hadrians Wall and Corbridge.
