The food was excellent and expectations of dining here wasn't' just pub food I have had 4 Star food and it wasn't half as nice as here the waitress were so attentive to your dining experience that we couldn't of had a better stay. Thank you for making our stay wonderful. All the local people were so nice 🙂 thank you we will be back very soon.

We had a fantastic time staying here. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by both hosts who were super friendly and welcoming. The room and the whole hotel is totally spotless. They take pride in looking after the rooms. So much attention to detail. Nothing was a problem with a really delicious cooked breakfast. Its location to the Main Street is perfect. Super central. Highly recommended!

Our "Get Lost Walk" ended up with 4 of us staying in Hawkshead, Queens Head Inn which we couldn't fault. Very friendly welcome and nice pub food and obligatory sampling of some fine beers in the evening in a good atmosphere.

The Staff are so Friendly. The room was a good size at the front. Loved the pool area and outside Jacuzzi which I only just learned was hot!!! Food Amazing. Love Manuel! He rec my haddock brekkie and was perfect. Comfy lounge bar.Booked again for December!!!
Lovely little village which we visit regularly. Number of pub options on the decline but good to see one of them being refurbished prior to re-opening.
Stayed at Poppi-Red in the middle of the village. Lovely rooms and a great breakfast.

Lovely little Hamlet with a surprising number of eating options, a pharmacy and a coop. Quiet for the most part and very relaxing from the bustle of Ambleside. Just note the car park is £8.50 for 24 hours as there is nowhere else to park you are a hostage to this and mounts up over several days.

Our "go to" place in the village has always been the Kings...
Our "go to" place in the village has always been the Kings Arms Pub. Sadly the pub is currently closed for renovations and will not be open again until 2025. Without this pub, the village feels like it has list its heart. Other pubs are available of course, but none have the feel of The Kings Arms. The village is otherwise a great centre for surrounding activities. It is very serene in the evenings when the bulk of visitors have gone home. It's a shame that the village economy does not seem able to support a good quality walking shop. The current outlets in the village really cater for the low to mid-range mass market.
For dining, the breakfasts at PoppiRed are exceptional. For our evening meals we used PoppiRed and The Red Lion. Both were very good.

Love Hawkshead.
Love Hawkshead. A super little village, with some sweet shops and various places to eat & drink. Great location to get to just about anywhere in the Lake District within reasonable travel time, and plenty of nearby walking.

The one downside was the parking.
The one downside was the parking. Many of the properties don’t have onsight parking which means parking on the main car park when you are in the village. The charges have recently been changed so that you have to pay overnight as well as during the day. There are no discounts for parking for a few days/ week so the £8.50 charge a day can add up if you are staying a few days. Nice restaurant in the village - Poppi Red would recommend to anyone who enjoys good food. Good base for visiting Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston.

The price is highly affordable. The toilets and shower rooms are just next door. Though they say they are shared, you never wait on a queue. Clean and well maintained rooms and toilets. Very safe and homely. There are multi use kitchen, party room, self service kitchen, buffet rooms all clean, great food, great service!
The location is strategic for a Lake District visitor. No need to get confused, you are choosing one of the best places to stay if you are visiting Lake District for a couple of days.
Breakfast options were great! Dinner options were perfect- it's pretty busy in the Lake District for dinner bookings so knowing you have a table at the pub each evening is a relief
