English breakfast lovely, continental good although had to ask for side plates, milk, cups, coffee. However
ALL staff really friendly and helpful. Fabulous electric heater that warmed our room up quickly.
Quirky hotel. Omg! Trying to walk down the corridor after being in the bar makes you think you are drunk!! Haha the corridor on the first floor is not level at all, just adds to the character of the inn.

A quaint, sleepy market town, steeped in history, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Reminds me of Appleby. Lots of independent shops and eateries, including a 'cat cafe' and a 'book cafe'.

A pleasant Essex small town, but the high street is on a hill. It has a range of small, interesting shops and a good supermarket. There is an assortment of eating places. We ate at The Bull at the bottom of the hill. The food was fine but the service was very slow.

Typical Essex town, nice range of independent shops and national retailers like Sainsbury and Costa. The Bull hotel is central to the town but its interior experience does not match the exterior appearance.

Breakfast very good, although there was a shortage of cups and glasses when we first arrived. Staff provided them quickly. Evening meal also good, with prompt and pleasant service.
Hotel decor a bit tired, but apparently they are due for a refurb. This is an old building, so you have to expect wonky floors and doors. They are doing their best with what they have. Bedroom and bathroom were both clean and tidy.
We often visit Halstead to see relatives and this is where we try to stay if there's room.
A friendly pub, then a warm bedroom, a quiet nights sleep followed by a pleasant breakfast.....its ideal.
Quirky property in secluded and quiet area of Halstead. Lovely private garden and within easy walking distance of facilities. Very clean, light accommodation with a well equipped kitchen.
