Godalming is a lovely little town, fairly flat and interesting to walk around.
It is a good base to other areas too. We went to the Watts Gallery and Chapel, it was the prime reason for our visit and we weren’t disappointed. It is also close to Guildford with really good London links.

Nice town, which we'd not visited for nearly 50 years - the first, apparently, to be lit by electric light (1881). It's a super high street, and there's a nice riverside park with a colonnade dedicated to Jack Phillips, who was the wireless operator on the Titanic. He also gives his name to the town's Wetherspoons! The Surrey Hills countryside around Godalming is really lovely too.

I wasn’t coming for pleasure so had dinner in the hotel both nights. Just 3 parking spaces ludicrous. However, public car park free after 6.30pm right through Sunday. But as I had arrived on Friday it would have cost more into Saturday morning. The room 104 was small and over the kitchen air con units. On the plus side, short corridor outside and no upper storey so blissfully quiet. Would have preferred a bath.

Do not stay at the Inn on the Lake, unless you have come into money.
If you have stay somewhere else anyway.

Godalming is an attractive small town on the edge of the Surrey Hills. We’re regular visitors, our daughter and family live there. The area around the high street has some good shops, nice restaurants, pubs and it seems like there’s a new coffee shop opening each week.

An interesting little town that has retained much of its character despite morphing into another notch in the London commuter belt. The centre has some good independent shops. The park has a poignant memorial to the radio operator on the Titanic. The meadows next to the Wey navigation offer pleasant walks. The woods at Winkworth arboretum are spectacular all year round. Road and rail links to London and the south coast are very good.

The facilities were great and obviously a lot of thought went into the place. I highly recommend Pound Corner to anyone looking for accommodation in this area. I stayed in flat 3, which was very spacious and modern. It was well designed and made the most of the available space. I had a quick look at the other flats, and they too were very nice. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to ensure that everything was good.
Having been told this hotel was a real dump a few years ago, I was totally amazed at how gorgeous the whole place is! Everything about it is splendid. The rooms are really well equipped with things you expect and a few more besides. The decor is top class, a real feeling of luxury. In fact the whole hotel is like staying in a stately manor!
And being right on the High Street the location is fantastic
Nice clean spacious room. Had dinner with friends, while not cheap was very good with excellent service. Special mention for lady who not sure if she is the manager, but her service and empathy towards customers was absolutely top notch, she left us feeling very welcome as we were leaving.
We had a very bad experience. The hotel closed at 10:00 pm, and we arrived at 10:30 pm. The staff shouted at us and was very rude. The room was very dirty, and I wasn't able to sleep. In the morning, they told us the check-out is by 10:30 am.
Friendly staff, and although it's next to a road I still couldn't hear a thing. The back yard area looked incredible, and everything was more spacious than I imagined.
