My visit was for family business, and we used the time to visit the local area, including Canterbury and Rochester, as well as walking around Gillingham.
A little frustrated as Chatham Dockyard was closed to visitors. The Engineering Museum which is within walking distance was also closed on Monday, the only day we had free to visit.
If visiting Canterbury with your car, BE WARNED, Car Parking is expensive, and the Park & Ride facilities are NOT clearly marked. In fact one of the Park & Ride Car Parks has closed, and the local Tourist Info were unaware.
Well worth a visit to Canterbury to see the Cathedral, which has an entry free of £17 per person, but this is for unlimited visits for a year.
However, DO GO TO ROCHESTER.
Rochester is a wonderful City to visit. It also has a Cathedral, which has FREE entry, however you are encouraged to make a donation, and if you are able to do Gift Aid, then a cash donation in an envelope with all your details will enable the Cathedral to claim more money.
Rochester also has a Castle - again, a wonderful visit, and entry including audio tapes (highly recommended) was £5.70 (concessions) The castle however is only for able bodied, as there are over 200 steps to climb. Well worth the climb though for the views.
Free Guildhall Museum to visit, which again is a delight.
And car parking!!! We parked in the "Short Stay" car park near the Cathedral and it was the huge sum of £3.70 for just under 5 hours. A Bargain, and especially comparing with Canterbury which was £3.50 PER HOUR

I found Gillingham an interesting place.
I found Gillingham an interesting place. Lots of history regarding the forces. I was amazed at the work going on re. New builds. It was very clean and friendly. There appears to be a sports theme in the area. Lots of opportunities for different sports. Yes, we would revisit.

Gillingham is a beautiful place in Medway.
Gillingham is a beautiful place in Medway. Gillingham has everything you may need with good prices to pay on hotels and amenities. The historic dockside is just a stone throw, the Medway River is just there for your convenience, the River walk will take you through the whole Medway towns. There are so much you can do as a couple, family or individually

Good location of this hotel for Chatham Dockyard where we visited the "Call the Midwife" tour and had a great time. Worth the 300 mile trip down form Yorkshire but did not see Gillingham itself.

Gillingham is a good centre for visiting Chatham (for the Dockyards), Rochester and Maidstone. The town itself has a few eateries, good supermarkets, a pedestrianised precinct and some shops. Good train links to London and the South-East. Good bus links to the surrounding area. The town itself does not boast many facilities for tourists (eg. museums etc) but is a good base.

Large bedroom, strong wifi throughout the house, quiet, comprehensive kitchen, easy to find street parking, off licence around the corner to buy a few little things rather than drive to a supermarket. Host, Leonard, was very helpful on my arrival and easy to get in touch with during my stay. Great 2 night base while sightseeing in Kent.
Absolutely beautiful property,I well thought out idea by the family.
Is lovely and quaint..
Very quiet.
Every thing you need..
Gives a very different feel than a hotel room.you get a farm barn conversation feeling from/cottage.
Our baby is teething at the moment and she slept straight through,”that’s how quiet and calming the place is”.
Monika and Mark are wonderful hosts. A tranquil getaway with comfortable bed and a settee that you want to sink into. Fabulous facilities and very tastefully decorated. A fabulous base for travelling around Kent.
breakfast great, hotel nice but need refurb, not 100 % clean entry to hotel lets it down as you drive in
tho staff were top quality, food was nice from the bar
