Lovely old building in convenient location tucked slightly out of the centre so it’s quieter than some areas but the centre is still easily accessible.
Superior room was huge and spacious with comfortable bed, good shower and loads of space.
Breakfast was fast, good quality and convenient

Location close to city center. Room good size. Staff accommodating.
This 19th-century coaching inn is located in the heart of Chester city center. There is a 4-star award-winning restaurant downstairs and 8 rooms above.
Excellent staff on breakfast duty and fully staffed.
Excellent staff on breakfast duty and fully staffed.
Otherwise bar and grill is not a bar , it is a VERY NOISY sports bar totally unsuitable to my needs and anyone wishing to be able to talk to their dining partner or for family dining. Bar was short staffed and many used and dirty glasses on the bar.
Will not be returning

Current renovation work meant we swapped rooms as initially all we had was scaffolding at the window.
Breakfast was just adequate but definitely not great value.

Ask the reception for a quiet room, mine was overlooking the M56, luckily I had some earplugs with me so that filtered out the noise.
Its ok but would rate the hotel as being on the same level as a Premier Inn, it used to be a more higher rating than a Premier Inn but standards are not what they used to be.
Food was ok but don't expect 4* restaurant class food.
I cannot comment on the other facilities as was only there for one night

Garden City is an awful place.
Garden City is an awful place. Luckily, this hotel isn’t really in Garden City but conveniently placed just off the A55. The nearest village is Hawarden, which is lovely - pubs, farm shop, Gladstone Library. But really this hotel is a base to explore Chester (15 mins drive) or the North Wales coast.

On arrival staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful.
On arrival staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant were extremely busy but the rooms were quiet.
The room was of a good size and well equipped with hairdryer and ironing board etc.
I found the mattress hard but this may just be personal preference.
The bath was very slippery without a mat or rough surface for showering. This should be rectified as it could be dangerous.
Tea and coffee were provided but these were very basic. It would have been nice to have had more of a choice.
We were visiting family in Hawarden but also had a trip to the Blue Planet Aquarium and Cheshire Oaks planned. The hotel is
Overall I felt it offered good value for money.
I've stayed here a few times. The rooms are well appointed with very comfy beds. The rooms are quiet despite it usually being a busy hotel. Highly recommended.
The hotel was very well placed for travel links. The room was clean and adequate. The bed was very comfortable. There were places to eat and drink on site.
