I didn’t expect to get a room with the lake view, which was a surprise. And also the lady who was on lobby was so nice and suggested some places to visit while our stay.

We had the double cell room. Clean, small but everything you need. External shower was great, providing shampoo conditioner and soap, with robes and nice big towels provided too so it was easy to get between room and shower. Free tea and coffee in the restaurant at any time was a great bonus. The building retains some of the former prison character which makes it special. Central location. Great value overall.

Fort William, like other towns across the UK, has suffered...
Fort William, like other towns across the UK, has suffered over the years due to online shopping and covid. Also, a number of years ago, the powers that be decided to pedestianise the main street, which was a mistake. It used to be a busting street, but now motorists are diverted behind the less pretty back elevations of the buildings. At one end there is an ugly shopping precinct, and the overall feel is a bit dismal. However there are some green shoots of recovery, with new shops and pubs, and an excellent cinema venue, which serves food and drink all day. The scenery of course is superb. Thank goodness the planners can't get their hands on that!
Just outside Fort William is Neptune's Staircase, an amazing set of locks built by Thomas Telford as part of the Caledonian Canal. It is worth a vist

Fort William is a quiet little town nestled on the loch surrounded by mountains which I absolutely fell in love with.
The vibe is chill and relaxing.
I would definately recomment the Loch Linnhe boat cruises and hiring an e-bike from Nevis Cycles to ride up the canal to Gairlochy.

So many incredible things to see and do.
So many incredible things to see and do. The hidden gem, if you golf, is the Woodlands south of town! The hiking, scenery, and people are so wonderful.
Hiking is right out your doorstep. There was archery, golf, Ben Nevis, and the food, so many good places.
A hidden gem in the town center was a museum of the Highlanders.

My second visit to Fort William.
My second visit to Fort William. It was our last stop on after doing the NC500. Hence we just stayed for one night. However we managed to visit Glenfinnan and the town of Fort William which had shops open late in the evening. The restaurant options in town were good and overall the place felt very safe for everyone.
There is so much to see and explore in and around Fort William which I had done on my previous visit and would recommend a minimum of three days to do full justice.

The hotel is really well located, right off the main road into Fort William. It is set back enough and the rooms are well insulated so there is no road noise at all. The staff were great, very welcoming and helped us with a few questions we had about the area. The room was really nice, good comfy bed and nice bathroom with a big shower.
- This hotel is fine for a short stay and a place to put your head down.
