Ivybridge Guesthouse, hotel in Fishguard

Located in close proximity to coastal walks and the newly opened Goodwick Moor bird sanctuary with Ivybridge Spa* just next door.

The owners were very accommodating and communicative ahead of my stay, even when I had a particularly late check in time. Mark was really kind and went out of his way to help me on my way in the morning after a particularly difficult journey.

The location was great because we had a early sail to Dublin, our taxi failed to turn up and the owner of the hotel very kindly offered us a lift to harbour which we were very grateful for.

The Ferryboat, hotel in Fishguard

A warm welcome from Peter, though we were late arriving from the ferry. I had called ahead to let him know. We helped ourselves to a glass of wine before turning in, from the honesty bar. We had a great sleep, lovely room, quiet too, even though our room faced the road. A fabulous breakfast. Thankyou Jaqui and Peter. A lovely B&B three minutes from the ferry port. Comfortable and stylish accommodation. Warm welcoming hosts. Loved our chat and look forward to reading Jaqui’s book! BW Maggie & Steve

Fishguard has world-beating coastal walks and views; ideal for droning. It is a quiet, small town, brimming with cultural assets, e.g. the Last Invasion Tapestry, Folk at the Oak every Tuesday, Goodwick Harbour, Lower Town (used for at least two films), Theatr Gwawn and varied eating options. Everything is within walking distance. It's also close to interesting places to visit, such as St David's, with its cathedral.

It's a great base location for exploring the area.

It's a great base location for exploring the area. There's plenty of nice coastal walks that are only a short drive away. The town itself is quite small but still has plenty to offer. There's history with the fort and last invasion gallery, the lower town is very cute and you're spoiled for choice with food and drink - lots of very good quality cafes, restaurants and pubs.

In Fishguard to take ferry to Ireland so didn't see much of it. Looks a nice coastal town but obviously the ferry port overwhelms the town. If using the ferry services directions are clear and plenty of space to park and wait if arrive early. Stayed overnight in The Ferryboat which was lovely and highly recommended.

A lovely little town and great base to explore local sites and coves. Great walking, lovely quaint streets, easy shopping at the CoOp. Exploring pathways and surrounds was fascinating. A short drive to St David’s. We were there mainly for the Challenge Fishguard Triathlon. A great event.

Fishguard is a relatively small port/leisure town in North...

Fishguard is a relatively small port/leisure town in North Pembrokeshire. There are pleasant walks and old properties and chapels. Good views out to the hills and sea from various viewpoints, Shopping choices are somewhat limited but there is a largeish Co op Stores and many independents. There is a pleasant cafe facing the Square opposite St Mary's Church (Bopty Cafe) and the Royal Oak Pub has a large terrace to the rear with sea views and offers a variety of food and drink with an outside bar in good weather, Live jazz was being played outside when I visited, there was a soap box derby and fair in the park and a number of other folk and music/dancing events which made for a happy and civilised summer feel. A walk along the breakwater at Goodwick is pleasant or a day trip to Ireland on the ferry. There is a good local cinema showing many current films and live showings. The gallery along west street (Miles Pepper) is worth a trip. Check out the Fishguard Music Festival in September and Aberjazz in the Spring.

The owner is exceptionally welcoming, generous with his time and stories, it was a pleasure to spend time and chat. The hostel is in a lovely building, well situated in Fishguard - a really attractive and somewhat overlooked destination. The room was really comfortable - so much more so than many hotels I've stayed in. We will definitely stay again - for all the above but mostly due to the welcome from our host!

Owners are lovely people. Arrived late (11.45pm) but one of owners there to greet us and tell us all we needed to know. Room was lovely and bathroom exceptional and spacious. Breakfast was very good and other owner chatted to us which was lovely. If needed to stay again when using ferry services I wouldn't even consider anywhere else. Highly recommend The Ferryboat to anyone needing accomodation in Fishguard.

Location was great as we came off the ferry into Fishguard from Rosslare and overnighted in Fishguard. The room we were booked into (room 2) was lovely and clean and very comfortable. The bed was the best that we had stayed in in a long while. Lovely linen, comfortable pillows and a gorgeous bed. Breakfast the next morning was great and the young girl who served us was an asset to the hotel.
