The Landlady was very pleasant and helpful, check in is at 4pm and she was right on time, showed us to our room and explained the features. view from the room was of the courtyard, the water pressure and temperature was more than needed. The bathroom was modern and clean, the room is located in a public house and the bar was friendly and had a good selection of local beers.

Red Lion Coaching Inn, hotel in Ellesmere

In a magnificent 16th-century building, Red Lion Coaching Inn offers free parking, free Wi-Fi, cooked breakfasts and elegant rooms.

The property was lovely. Two of us had our own rooms ready for a course today. We arrived last night and where greeted and treated with care and professionalism. After checking in we where shown where our rooms where. If you expecting 5*. It isn’t but it’s defo a nice place to stay. Once we’d got changed we headed down for dinner. The food was wicked, I had ham eggs and chips. It was great being served such great pub grub. I’ll be coming back here to stay again in the very near future. Thanks to all the staff for having gone to so much trouble sorting us out breakfast as we left early. This hotel is a*** for helping us out so much above and beyond.

Lion Quays Resort, hotel in Ellesmere

Lion Quays Waterside Resort is set in English countryside, with stunning views of the Llangollen Canal. All rooms have a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, a power shower and complimentary toiletries.

Hotel was in a good location for me and my partner to go visit different sites in north Wales. Just off the main road and even though it is on a main dual carriageway way, we couldn't hear the road from our room The food in the restaurant was lovely. Evening menu had a good variety and was delicious and breakfast was always hot and had a good variety of breakfast items.

The Pod @ Essex House, hotel in Ellesmere

The Pod @ Essex House offers accommodations in Bronington, 29 miles from Trentham Gardens. With free private parking, the property is 24 miles from Chester Racecourse and 25 miles from Chester Zoo.

Where do we even begin? Our stay in the pod was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The modern, cozy annex was easy to find and equipped with everything we could possibly need. Ali, the host, was hands-down the best we’ve ever had. Her attention to detail truly made a difference—from the thoughtful welcome pack, snacks in the cupboard, and milk in the fridge, to the mini bathroom essentials. She even went above and beyond by giving us a lift to the wedding venue! We would highly recommend staying here. Thank you, Ali, for your outstanding hospitality!

Elessmere is a beautiful location with many options for walking and exploring, including the nearby Llangollen/Shropshire canal. As a walker I could easily have spend several days there and used this locatuion as a centre for my planned activitieds.

There were lots of local walks, perfect for dog owners.

There were lots of local walks, perfect for dog owners. Great play facilities for children and plenty of good places to eat - all well identified on the free map of Ellesmere. The sculpture trail was interesting and would be great fun to do with kids. The mere is lovely for an early morning walk. The snack at the Boathouse, overlooking the water was nice and the coffee very good - there was no pressure to finish quickly. The food at the Red Lion was excellent, great range and good value for over 60's. The map of Ellesmere was excellent and made the whole stay more pleasurable.

The Red Lion is well situated within walking distance of the town centre, and also a short walk away from the Mere which is Ellesmere's main attraction. The town is very interesting and compact, and is served by bus to Shrewsbury and the Welsh Border. There are many footpaths around the area, including canal paths and various Meres nearby.

The location was brilliant for us, lovely lake walks, a park for the children and off road parking at the hotel. The family rooms were surprisingly spacious and nice and clean. We specified for 2 family rooms next to each other and that's exactly what we got. The staff at the hotel were super welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing and the price for food, drinks and the room was extremely reasonable. If we were ever in the area again we would definitely return and I'd recommend to friends and family alike.
