Breakfast had a great choice from the menu and from the continental selection with fresh fruit and clearly labelled cereals.
The dinner choices were outstanding. Everything I ate was fresh and well balanced. The fish choices and desserts were a particular favourite.
The room was well decorated with a calming colour scheme and details considered such as the perfect curtain length.
The outside space included various places to sit in the shade or sun, on the patio surrounded by plants or on the lawn with a view of the countryside. The plants brought nature to the rooms and meant I could watch birds and insects from my window.
The rooms are away from the pub so piece can be found even on a busy night. Yet as it is such a short walk it won’t be a struggle for those who need step free access or little exertion.

John Constable Exhibition just up the road at Flatford (few mins walk) very interesting and moving. The Clarke's Victorian house, how they lived in these times also fascinating. River Stour boat trip pleasant and pilots knowledgeable. Place for Plants gardens and RSPB section nice to visit (see the various carvings out of trees). The National Trust shops all seem to have the same generic stock whichever part of the country you are in..and are very expensive, they need to sell LOCAL things. Lion Brasserie good food and friendly service. Need a car to get around.

East Bergholt is a wonderfully picturesque village with an amazing history. As the birthplace of the artist John Constable has special appeal to those who admire his work. Many of the scenes he painted in the area, specifically the nearby Flatford Mill, are immediately recognisable.
Although small, East Begholt is well served by several pubs offering attractive menus. There is also two wonderful cafes and an "open all hours" Coop store.

A bucolic location, full of pastoral scenery and nice variety of hiking trails to keep families busy in the outdoors. Also plenty of gentle waterways and launching spots for boating activities. A few pubs and cafes around for adults wishing to enjoy the summer nights.
