Really enjoyed my trip to the Castle as well as my stay in the Luttrell Arms. Great also to do the tour of the Victorian Kitchens in the Castle for a small extra fee. (Really interesting & informative). Nice shops & cafes in Dunster itself. Evening meals in the Luttrell Arms very tasty although a bit pricey. Also worth booking a table so as not to be disappointed. Easy parking in the pay & display car park around the corner from the Luttrell Arms or in the High Street (free) near the Yarn Market, if you are lucky.

The Dunster Hotel is a real treasure!

The Dunster Hotel is a real treasure! Excellent hosts, very comfortable rooms, all well appointed, free parking for guests staying. Dunster has much to offer apart from visiting the castle, the castle grounds are well worth exploring. Make sure to visit the many tea/coffee shops and quirky independent shops in the high street. Dunster beach is worth a visit, popular with dog walkers. Exmoor is on the doorstep too! We have visited often and think Dunster is a very special place. Don’t be put off by reports of difficulties with parking. There is the National Trust car park in the Castle grounds, free for NT members, parking in the high street and a car park as you come into Dunster near the information centre where you can park overnight.

I could quite happily have spent 2 days just in Dunster then...

I could quite happily have spent 2 days just in Dunster then used it as a base for the wider area - the beaches and even Cheddar gorge. We ate dinner at the Luttrell Arms which was nice but Reeves looked good too. We had coffee and cake at Tessa's Tea rooms and bought stuff in the independent shops. The only thing I'd have changed was the weather as we had a few downpours but that's Britain for you!!

Iys a very old village with more grade 2 listed buildings than anywhere else in England. The Castle and grounds are always good to visit. We had a good choice of walks in the surrounding countryside. There are a few good places to eat including a very good Aisian restaurant. It's very easy to get around the village.

Dunster is on the edge of Exmoor National Park, which imho is the most underrated national park in the UK. The views are magnificent, with small cozy towns, beautiful nature, good roads for walking, cycling and mountain biking. Dunster itself is a small cozy village with a proper Castle, although through shortness of time we didn't visit it.

I was visiting Dunster Village with some other friends to celebrate my best friends 65th birthday there. We received a very warm well and served tea and homemade cake in the drawing room which was a lovely touch after such a long drive from London. Our hosts provided useful information on places to visit locally including details of best places to dine in the evening. Breakfast was delicious and set us up for a very busy day ahead in planning my friend's birthday party. Can't wait to visit again.
