The Merryburn - Rooms and Courtyard Studios, hotel in Dunkeld

Offering free WiFi, The Merryburn - Rooms and Courtyard Studios offers accommodations in Dunkeld, 18 miles from Castle Menzies and 28 miles from Discovery Point.

The Merryburn Inn offers wonderful, spacious rooms (we had two; one upstairs and one huge one with a living room and kitchen downstairs). The decor is absolutely charming, and the beds & seating very comfortable.

Lots of charm and character - with wonderful landscapes - and red squirrels! Great hosts, comfy, and spacious room. Great to be able to have cheese and charcuterie in the evening in one of the guest areas. We loved our stay here. And the breakfast was fabulous!! Teresa served homemade bread and locally made haggis for breakfast .. delicious. High recommend a stay here.

Wallace Apartment - A unique apartment in countryside park with WIFI and access to bar and pool, hotel in Dunkeld

Wallace Apartment - A unique apartment in countryside park with WIFI and access to bar and pool offers accommodations in Perth, 21 miles from Blair Castle and 27 miles from Glamis Castle.

The apartment is so spacious! Wow! Pretty much everyone in our party had their own bedroom! I loved the vintage toilets (even though it took a few moments to figure out how to get one of them to flush properly). It was peaceful and pleasant and the kitchen made it easy for us to self-cater our meals. There was a small laundrette nearby that made it easy for us to wash our clothes after being on the road for a week.

Dunkeld is a small historic town buzzing with activity.

Dunkeld is a small historic town buzzing with activity. Central to the town is the cathedral which is open to visitors, and the town has plenty of cafes and artisan bakeries, as well as small shops selling local produce such as jams and whiskies. The neighbouring village of Birnam has a lovely arts centre and Beatrix Potter exhibition. Overall, this is a great location for walkers, with a series of circular walks within beautiful countryside.

Four of us spent 2 nights at Birnam Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed Birnam and nearby Dunkeld. For us, this was a perfect stop between Edinburgh and Inverness. We had time to walk and to enjoy the beautiful River Tay. We were able to wander and relax. All of us have said that we'd like to return to this area but to spend more time there. We didn't have a car, and a car would be necessary on our next trip because we'd like to see the beautiful scenery.

We have visited Dunkeld often over the years and find it a lovely town with good shops and wonderful walks especially along the river Tay. It has many cafes and restaurants and places to relax. In the summer it is very crowded and the traffic is heavy through the town. Car parking is an issue.

We came here for a wedding but had a chance to explore the area a little. The river walk into Dunkeld is idyllic and took a long time as I took time to sit by the majestic River Tay. We ate at both the Atholl Arms Hotel and Taybank Hotel. The food is very good but expensive although the view from the terrace is wonderful. There is not much vegetarian on the menu but always at least one option. The Beatrix Potter Garden was lovely with an interesting and inexpensive exhibition as well.

Just across the street from the Beatrix Potter Garden and just a five-minute walk from the Dunkeld and Birnam train station, this charming hotel had spacious, comfortable, and adorably-decorated Peter Rabbit themed suites. I almost died of cuteness! The hostess was delightful, welcoming, and filled with excellent advice about the area. Strongly recommend; if I ever come back to this area I will definitely stay here.

Breakfast was lovely. Sadly there was a burst water pipe which impacted on the hotel on Saturday evening..... everything closed early. Dunkeld was so quiet this weekend, it is losing it's soul, which is sad.
