The owner greeted us as we arrived, assisted with our luggage, and served us tea and coffee. Following our host’s suggestion we walked a path along the river to the Doune Castle and on into town for a wonderful dinner.

This has become one of my favorite places to stay. The rooms are a bit dated but super clean, every single member of the staff is wonderful, and the Scottish breakfast is not to be missed! We moved here and stayed at The Stirling Court for 12 days while we got our flat ready to move into, and the staff became our first new friends here. We plan to return to the restaurant and bar frequently.

loved it all. Speechless, what a lovely place. One of the nicest stop over places I've ever stayed. Perfect in every way. Comfortable, convenient, would recommend it, and hosts are really welcoming too. Always travelled down south and back without stopping over!! Not any more now we have found this gem of a place.

A walk on a winter night, Doune appeared to be a nice country town. Very tidy,no obvious litter lying around.
For the size of the town,a lot of privately owned shops and businessess.
As my business was out of town, I never seen much more!
I will be sure to return, hopefully with more time to explore.

Quiet village, not a lot going on.
Quiet village, not a lot going on. Has one big pub/hotel serving meals and drinks and a few small shops. Doune castle very close to this property also some good places to walk and run just around the village. COnvenient for Stirling and Dunblane and easy to get to outdoor walking areas if you have a car.

Loved Doune.
Loved Doune. It has the Castle even though when I visited the Castle was closed for renovations. About a couple miles out there is a monument dedicated to David Stirling SAS. I actually walked and never realised until on route that there was no actual paths so many a time I jumped in hedges to on coming traffic. Thankfully I was wearing bright yellow raincoat!. The must see is the cemetery/ruins of Kilmadock. Easiest route is A84 from Doune, pass the Antiques centre, pass through Buchany and when you see signs for Doune stables to the right - opposite is a footpath sign taking you down to the path that leads through the woods to the ancient cemetery - worth seeing. On the last day of every month people of the ROOK ( Rescuers Of Old Kilmadock) clean/tidy the grave stones and I managed to be there and speak to them. .

Very pleasant small Scottish town.
Very pleasant small Scottish town. Doune Castle is a must - 3 intact floors! Cafes and shops had great choice and good quality, with decent opening hours. It's not totally flat, so may be challenging for wheelchair users, but accessibility seemed better than average.

I loved the comfortable bed and window seat overlooking the garden, the soaker tub with lots of hot water and a heated towel rail that quickly dried clothes I washed. I loved the comfortable library and interesting selection of books. Beautiful grounds, friendly host, great service. Interesting walks out the front door around Doune, castle, distillery, river Teith without needing to drive.
The Woodside gets everything right. From the very friendly service to the clean, stylish and spacious accommodation. It’s exceptionally well fitted out, to a good standard. The rooms were all comfortable and bright, and we were made to feel welcome. Parking is easy and we also enjoyed a good dinner at the adjacent hotel. We would definitely return.
The location of the property is great, the village of Doune is lovely and the park located to the back of the property was great for the kids. The house itself was clean and we like the touch of having the Firestick to use with the tv.
Handy for going into Stirling, Blair Drummond Safari Park and also Dunblane.
The accommodation was quiet and quirky, with good quality fixtures and fittings. Bed was very comfortable. A good base to travel around Stirlingshire. Good parking. Good co-op shop in Doune for stocking up on provisions.
Location is a perfect in between for visiting multiple places. The hotel was amazing, food was superb and staff were so lovely! Would recommend 100% and will be returning.
