The Peppermill Town house Hotel & Restaurant, hotel in Devizes

With a 2AA Rosettes restaurant and a bar, The Peppermill Town house Hotel & Restaurant is located in the heart of Devizes town centre.

The staff was lovely and respectful, they took care in what they said and did for us. The room was amazing and a lot larger than I expected I certainly enjoyed a very relaxing bubble bath in such a deep tub with a mood lightening as there was two different types for the bathroom, and a peaceful sleep the bed was so comfortable. The hotel itself has character and you can see how old parts of the building is, it's beautiful but well maintained.

Lovely staff throughout the hotel. Great food as we had dinner there that night. Lovely breakfast also. Very laid back and staff always happy to be of help. We were staying there as we were attending a wedding the next day. We had two rooms as my Mother in Law who is in her 80's and not very mobile also stayed. She struggled a bit with the stairs as there are no lifts but was given a room on one of the lower levels. The rooms were comfortable, clean and with character. Our room had been freshly redecorated and was very pleasant. I am looking forward to our next trip to Devizes and will definately be staying at the Bull Hotel.

Really nice old town, some nice coffee shops and cafes. Quirky little shops and little alleyways to explore. The canals are a nice place to walk and everything is in walking distance. Plenty of parking available.

Stopped a couple of days in Devizes on our way to Wales. Great market town with lots of food and water holes. The White Bear is a buzzing little pub, with friendly customers and attentive hosts. Will return again, when hopefully the weather is nicer to us!

Lovely Georgian town with many original buildings. The Caen Locks of historic interest and good to walk alongside. A good cafe at the top of the locks. We ate at an Indian Restaurant opposite the Castle Hotel; excellent food.

I like Wadworth beer and as the brewery is here there was plenty of opportunity to go beer drinking. All the pubs we tried were interesting and friendly and the beer was well kept in all of them. We had a good walk along the canal to see the long flight of locks and there were interesting shops in the town. We liked the tea shop in the Ginnal and the bakery for sourdough bread. Everyone we met was friendly.

Devizes looks a little bit rundown.

Devizes looks a little bit rundown. Beautiful buildings are not restored and kept at their best which is a great pity. One popular eating place had filthy windows with bird excrement on them which reflects a lack of pride and cleanliness of the people who own or rent out these buildings. A lot more money needs to be invested in Devizes if it is to attract people. It would be a shame to let this historic town go to complete ruin. People should take pride in their heritage and at the very least clean their shop front, shop windows and paint the façades. However, Devizes is better than Crewkerne and Chard.

Devizes is far too reticent about its charms.

Devizes is far too reticent about its charms. It is a lovely small market town in the heart of some glorious countryside. It is packed with history and adjacent to the beautiful Kennet & Avon Canal (especially the astonishing engineering feat of the Caen Hill Lock Flight, 30 mins' walk from the town centre). The town has many traditional pubs, and shops are quirky and individual rather than the standard chain stores you can find anywhere. (But don't come for a shopping experience.)

Booked a night at the Castle Hotel to attend a work related function in Devizes. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff, the whole building was immaculately clean and the room was well equipped with good quality furnishings. Our stay was rounded off with an excellent breakfast. The hotel is in a central location, was easy to find and near to public parking. Would not hesitate to stay again if accomodation was needed again in the Devizes area.

The Little House is in a central location in Devizes. Ideal for a couple or individual and, in our opinion, much nicer than staying in a hotel. It was spotlessly clean and very well appointed - everything had been thought of. A useful welcome pack with all the necessary items for breakfast was provided, along with WiFi, charging points, a smart TV, hairdryer, well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and contemporary shower room.

I loved the facilities absolutely perfect for a quiet break away. The location is great, with a quiet countryside feel but actually only a short drive into Devizes. The spot is really peaceful with plenty of areas to relax and wind down. Highly recommend it
