Everything was excellent - pleasantly surprised.
Good sized, well laid out, provisioned room - Every detail was just right:
TV was movable as it was not fixed to the wall (great) Desk had its own directable light, The Desk's Chair was good.
The Bedside tables are just the right height, the power sockets are in the right place.
The Bathroom has a low level, night light for navigation in the dark. The Bathroom is well laid out, fairly spacious, very clean, nice sink and an excellent, large shower.
The Receptionist was wonderful (happy, polite, helpful)
They provided me with complimentary toothpaste and brush !
There is a bar and restaurant which is large and nice enough.
The help yourself, buffet Breakfast was well laid out with a good variety of options (incl. Gluten free) and started at 06.30
All in all - perfect and excellent !
Situated within a 14th-century coaching inn, the award-winning Best Western Rose and Crown Hotel is located just a 15 minutes’ walk from the centre of historic Colchester.

All the staff were really friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was the best we have had ever, especially the bacon, delicious 😋
This is an unexpected part of the world. Beautiful historic villages and churches to visit nearby. East Bergholt Constable centre has real feeling. A little area to wind down. Food at Tobooth is very very good but expensive

A lovely, fairly quiet, old English country town.
A lovely, fairly quiet, old English country town. Two pubs, an art centre, a museum, a very large church, a Coop and lots of lovely green countryside. Hire row boats and enjoy a great lunch at The Boatyard.

Dedham is a very attractive small town with associations with Alfred Munnings and John Constable. The Church is an historic structure and worth a visit to also see the unusual gothic Constable painting. The town is full of attractive and historic buildings. The walk to Flatbury through the meadows is a must.

Dedham was lovely.
Dedham was lovely. We stayed at the end of one leg of the Essex Way walk. Hiring a boat on the river was great fun - and then a lovely walk along the river to Flatford. The Tiptree Jam shop is lovely for lunch - as is The Marlborough.

Beautiful town set in lovely open countryside.
Beautiful town set in lovely open countryside. We walked from Dedham to Flatford Mill and then to East Bergholt - about 8 miles return. Excellent paths, and clearly signposted. The church was well worth a visit with its stained glass windows. Visit the Art Centre for a huge range of gifts. All locals very friendly.

Generously sized rooms.
Generously sized rooms. Facilities good but no room service one day which wasn’t great when you return from a long day out.
The breakfast staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make things right. My yogurt, fruit and granola breakfast was superb!
The restaurant wasn’t open for dinner, but we found plenty of excellent pubs serving outstanding food only a short walk/drive away. The Sun Inn in Dedham was our favourite.
Plenty to do and see in the area so we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
