We did not stay at the Yewdale.
We refused the room due to the state of the
en suite.
When we booked with booking.com we chose a family room for extra space, unfortunately we didn't get this the en-suite wasn't large enough to accommodate the sink which was in the bedroom, and the shower was disgusting with black mould and corroded metalwork. This was also the case at the windows which looked like they could fall off their hinges.
We asked for a different room but none were available, we asked for a refund but we're told it was not possible as it was a non refundable room.
We left and had to find another hotel.
We sent an email to the Hotel group HR department and they said their manager was on holiday and would be be in touch yesterday 12 September but no one has been in touch to date.
I expected more from your hotels and as a regular user of booking.com would seek your support in obtaining a full refund.
If we had seen the room before booking we would never have entertained staying there.
I have photos of room but don't know how to send them with this review.
Featuring exposed stone walls, oak beams, and a cozy log-burning stove, this inn was built around 400 years ago and features free Wi-Fi and free parking on site.

The best thing was that the staff were so personable and helpful.
Next to Coniston Water, The Coniston Inn - The Inn Collection Group has lawns running down to the lake shore and a restaurant with spectacular mountain views.

A day was enough to fit in a trip on the lake, the Ruskin Museum and the array of shops.
Don't go looking for Donald Campbell's grave in the church cemetery, it's in the village cemetery off Hawkshead Old Road.
Didn't do any walking or drive to other villages, but it would be a good base location for this.

Coniston is a beautiful town.
Coniston is a beautiful town. I have been visiting since I was a teenager. You are never far from breathtaking walks in fabulous scenery. My favourite walks in the area would be Tilberthwaite, Hodge Close, towards Tarn How's, towards the Langdales, and of course around on on the Coniston Water itself. Coniston Water is one of my favourite of the Lakes. There is so much going on and to do, but it never seems too busy. It is a very pretty lake, whatever the time of year but especially magical in the winter snow or at sunset. The cafes and pubs are of Coniston are some of my favourites in the district - the Black Bull and The Ship and Herdwick's in particular. I have stayed in many places in the town: I have never once been disappointed wherever I have stayed. Coniston is a town but has the charm of a village - not too commercial, but catering to many needs.

Coniston is quite a small town and unless you are walking, climbing, swimming or other sporting activities that one would carry out in the lake district I feel that any more than 2 or 3 nights you would be stuck for things to do.
Other than that it is an excellent place to stay the venue is brillient, my first stay at the YHA was the previous year. I had never stayed in a YHA before and I must admit the experience was very different from my original expectations it was first class.

Coniston is a pretty village and a great attraction is the Bluebird boat in the Ruskin Museum. However, if you want to stay near a lake, Coniston isn't the right village.
Only pub food in Coniston and they haven't heard of/no demand for salads.
We liked everything!!! We can't fault the accommodation right in the centre of Coniston.
Large bed was extremely comfortable and the apartment had everything we needed, shops minutes away so all in easy access.
Located just outside the village of Coniston but happily just opposite a hotel serving good food for supper.
Cheerful, friendly owners. A good choice for a delicious breakfast.
