The Horse & Jockey Inn, hotel in Clun

Originally a 14th century coaching inn, the Horse & Jockey offers a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Room was serviced (something we have found after covid alot of places do not even restock trays or toilet rolls). Dog biscuits were left in the room for our fur baby, such a lovely thought. Breakfast and evening meal was fabulous 👌 and beer very cheap. Room was spotless (although carpet was a little tatty) Very quirky little pub and room with open beams, stone walls and a super king sized bed. Very dog friendly pub. Locals were very friendly too. Would definitely stay again.

Grain Loft is a rural retreat and a hidden gem, exceeding our expectations of a barn conversion. We self catered, the closest small shops are 3 miles away so came prepared with provisions. The roads around the property are single lanes with passing places, but not too challenging. The property was well laid out with pretty much everything you need to make your stay a success. Wi-Fi was really reliable, kitchen well equipped, secluded garden with patio set, games etc overlooking the beautiful Shropshire hills. An amazing location and accommodation!

A Lovely little village on the Welsh border. Set in a beautiful rural setting. Eating in one of the local pubs which was just round the corner, the other pub was not doing any food during my stay but both have loads of charm.

Clun is small enough to wander around but extends further than you originally think and has plenty going on. The castle ruin is a highlight, but so are the pubs and cafes too. Very easy to unwind and to switch off for a few days. The locals were extremely friendly and welcoming too. The walks around Clun are stunning. Shropshire at it's best.

An authentic Shropshire/Rural town set in very pretty countryside. It is not as twee and monied as Ludlow so facilities are limited in terms of shopping and eating out but both the pubs are friendly and both serve very well kept local ales. There is also a charming little tea room.

Large village in beautiful countryside, it has a couple of Tea Rooms a old stone bridge over the river. the area is quite picturesque and is typical of an english / Welsh border area. Our accommodation offered a restaurant which offered a not to large menu and a 'specials board'.
