The Breakfast was very good. Served by a very polite member of staff. Could not fault. The room was as requested, a back room to allow for a good nights sleep.

This is a friendly town with lots of amenities.

This is a friendly town with lots of amenities. If you turn right out of the hotel (which is in a side street) there are beautiful walks in castle grounds and a walled garden which is being renovated for reopening in the autumn. All around you are the beautiful mountains of Mourne. A trip to Newcastle will show you where 'the mountains come down to the sea' in the words of Percy French.

The accommodation was excellent and very stylish and comfortable. The large walk-in shower is ideal. I think a chair in the bedroom would be a good idea wasn't all that fussed on the hanging space but the room is very comfortable. The staff in restaurant and reception are so friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent position situated right beside the beautiful park and especially this time of year with all the glorious colours of the trees. Definitely will be back.

The Forest Park makes Castlewellan a great place to visit.

The Forest Park makes Castlewellan a great place to visit. There are a few nice wee shops, and it’s close proximity to Newcastle makes it a good location too. You can stay in quiet Castlewellan yet be near the sea and the Forest and the Mournes.

Lovely part of N Ireland and county down to visit with breath taking views of the countryside and mountains of Mourne. Great pubs and restaurants to visit and would recommend the Burrendale hotel for food and atmosphere, and if country and western music is your thing they seem to have regular events.
