This was a delightful overnight. Richard and Jane were wonderful, friendly and accommodating hosts! The rooms were very comfortable, clean and well thought out with the traveler in mind. They had nice suitcase stands, shelving in the main room for personal belongings and a place to hang our jackets. The bathroom was a nice size with a set of shelves in the corner for our supplies and the lighting was fantastic! They also had adequate storage in the shower for our travel supplies. Breakfast was wonderful with plenty of options. It was delicious and well presented. We highly recommend this B&B.

The reception upgraded us to a couple of very large and comfortable double rooms. Thank you so much. Our room was even ocean view (which we realized the following morning as we arrived after dark), and that was such a pleasant surprise. An amazing hot Scottish breakfast, with choices of all sorts of cold breakfast buffet, kept us going till late afternoon.

The landlord has very good compassion! He accepted a homeless, to avoid cold weather in midnight...

Not much in Castletown itself apart from the hotel, garage, and a few streets of housing. However, the small town of Thurso is only a few minutes away by car, and John O' Groats, and Dunnett beach are also close by. Castletown is a handy location for touring the area.

Castletown itself is quite small, but literally on the outskirts of Thurso. While we were there, their one Morrisons had closed for a total refurbishment, so if you were looking for groceries or the like, you'd have to go a bit further. But the local hotel had a lovely restaurant and there are some other local shops that looked quite handy and nice!

The breakfast buffet was amazing, especially for a quiet winter season. I booked a single room but got upgraded to a beautiful double room. Only the fan in the bathroom was a bit noisy and ran quite long after using the bathroom. The Wi-Fi worked very well, great TV with many channels and a very cosy bed. Very friendly lady at check in. Enjoyed my stay very much.

Good place to stay for an ongoing trip or to explore the beautiful nearby beach, Mae Castle and for a ferry connect (1/2 hour drive).
Good scenic coastal spots to drive to including the light house.
