Good breakfast cooked to your order. Very considerate hostess assigned me the warmest room and reminded me to check possible road closures after snow.

A good, old-fashioned inn for an overnight stay. A bit dated but the essentials are all there. Good food in the pub.

I ended up staying here as I was stranded during storms. The hotel staff were great with the manager making sure everything was ok for me as he knew about my situation. They kindly upgraded me for the second night. Both rooms were great and had everything you need - bonus was sockets with usb ports. The showers were amazingly powerful and hot. The food is amazing - real decent ingredients. I spent time in the bar/lounge relaxing and had a wander into the village - just for fresh air
We were there on a Sunday and it was raining pretty heavily.
We were there on a Sunday and it was raining pretty heavily. Only a couple of places were open. Luckily we got into YFan earlier and had a lovely rest and a tea while waiting for our room thanks to the hosts. They made our stay more pleasurable.

For business and just an overnight stay, we didn't spend a great deal of time exploring.
I would definitely revisit though.
Roads are clearly marked and there is lots of car parks or on street parking depending on the length of your stay. Quite hilly in some areas so worth driving around for 5 minutes to find somewhere more suitable if needed.
Morrisons has a large car park limited to 3 hours.
We visited the Courthouse for an evening meal and would highly recommend this pub. It's just lovely!
Plenty of seating both inside and outside, with a view of the castle.
Food and drink was good and the staff were polite and friendly.
We also visited the Piccadilly for a game of pool. A quieter pub (Tuesday) but both locals and staff friendly.

I was made very welcome by the host, Stephen. He showed me my room and explained the facilities the guest house had. Guests can book breakfast the day before. Payment is by cash or by direct bank credit transfer. The breakfast was freshly cooked. I had tea, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, fruit juice and a fried breakfast, egg, bacon, sausage, beans.
On the day i was leaving, Steve let me leave my case in the hall, so I could explore the town without luggage.
The hotel was very close to the railway & bus stations, and the town centre.
Fabulous location.
Walk to local shops, Caerphilly castle and train station to Cardiff.
3 ensuite bedrooms meant we had our own space.
Fully fitted kitchen.
Cupboards full of everything we needed.
Downstairs toilet and washing machine were a bonus.
The wide range of complimentaries. I did not expect travel toothbrushes and toothpaste per person. Soft bedding and comfortable beds. Quiet location which is a 5 minute to the Caerphilly train station if that.
