Villa by the Sea, hotel in Broughty Ferry

Villa by the Sea is located in Broughty Ferry, just 3.7 miles from Discovery Point and 16 miles from St Andrews University.

This is a beautiful sandstone villa on the promenade in Broughty Ferry, overlooking the water. The four bedrooms are all lovely, with the master being particularly pretty. Both full bathrooms are good, with the freestanding tub in the larger bathroom being a real luxury! The living room is very nice with comfortable seating for probably 6 max. The window seat gives an extra place to perch with a coffee, to watch people go by. Despite its proportions, the house was warm enough during our chillyish April stay. There is underfloor heating in the bathrooms which I imagine would be lovely in the winter. The location is good for walking into the village itself and along to the castle and sandy beach. We ate at the tapas restaurant Sol y Sombra which was brilliant (set menu so go along hungry!), Bombay Joes Indian which was good and Forgans which has a good vibe. The small Tesco and the M&S food meant we didn't have to go far for provisions. If you want a city break with a more coastal feel then this is a nice place to come, as Dundee is only a short train ride away (7 minutes!). You also have easy access to the beautiful Angus coast, as well as beaches and towns in Fife. The agents that manage the booking process and the house itself were very responsive and helpful.

In the center of Dundee’s City Quay sits the luxury 4-star Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa. With free Wi-Fi, a luxury spa and a boujee restaurant and bar.

Able to switch dates for free after pool maintenance on original dates. Got my room requests I asked for. Great Quay view room with discount price in last 5 days. Great bathroom, with bath & shower. Indian takeaway & Dominoes across the street. Chinese as well. Great location for HMS Unicorn & V & A Museum, both a ten minute walk. Also HMS Discovery & Shackleton's Cross Museum is beside V & A Museum. Dundee Tapestry panels are well worth a look there.

A pleasant town which must be very good in summer.

A pleasant town which must be very good in summer. Easy access to main forms of travel and visiting surrounding areas. Dined at The Ship Inn which was very good and also the Glass House Pavillion for morning coffee/breakfast. Parking was problematic at times owing to the nature of the streets but was manageable.

Beautiful, bustling town full of welcoming people.

Beautiful, bustling town full of welcoming people. Lots of lovely places to eat and drink as well as an array of gift shops, many celebrating local produce or local artists. Also great for the kids, the park at the castle is fab and there's also pottery painting and a variety of other things to do. Would highly recommend a visit here! I also got my hair done while I was visiting at Freedom Hairdressers, they were fantastic! Special mention to the lovely Erin who created a beautiful hairstyle for me for a wedding I was attending, it stayed in all day/evening and I had lots of compliments on it!
