Already decorated for Christmas the town was warm and welcoming. There are an ample number of places to eat in the evening. The cinema also has very current films. The area around the canal and theatre is very pleasant

Brecon is lovely and it is very welcoming.

Brecon is lovely and it is very welcoming. Be prepared for a quiet town that doesn't go out of its way to attract tourists but allows you to join in with the spirit of Wales. Sundays are quiet and shops are usually closed so a day of relaxation is the way to go.

Arrived in rain and dark and used instructions provided to access key safe. Instructions were wrong (the key safe was located in a different position than advised) and when I called for assistance there was no reply. As a result I had to seek and pay for alternative accommodatation. I have tried to seek a refund with no response to date. Worst experience ever!!

Brecon is a lovely old market town with plenty of coffee shops and places to see nearby. Perfect base for exploring the Bannau Brycheiniog. It's sat at the foot of Pen y Fan, but please, do visit one of the other hills - everyone goes to Pen y Fan, but you can have a mountain to yourself if you pick one of the others and the views are just as good. Try Lord Hereford's Knob - if for no other reason than the funny name.

The location and views from the bedroom are fabulous. Views from the dining room too across the river to the Beacons. A really peaceful location for a city hotel. Yes it needs improving and updating in areas. There is no lift. But the staff are amazing. So friendly, helpful makes your stay feel like you are an old regular. Even the locals visiting are helpful.

I know Brecon very well and have stayed in a couple of the other hotels in town. But I chose to stay there while I visited family. The room was clean, quiet and had a lovely bathroom. It's central to town and despite it being part of the pub's complex - it wasn't noisy, (although I stayed mid week).
