Our flight was delayed so we arrived after the restaurant closed. The owner and his wife made us welcome, even though they had closed for the night. They very kindly opened a bottle of wine and made us a wonderful dinner. Throughout the stay their hospitality was amazing. The owner would not let us walk to the bus stop, instead he very kindly drove us all the way to Sidmouth in his own car! They really could not have done more for us!

Breakfast was good quality. Dining room was clean. The staff were very helpful, happy & friendly. We felt like we were really looked after. The hotel was really lovely & in a great position. The beds were amazingly comfortable & the room/bathroom were a good size. An old building with beautiful original features but also updated with USB & computer points in the rooms & electric car charging point in the car park. Brilliant!!

I would imagine Branscombe would once have been a pleasant little community but now it appears to be a lock up and leave village which is really sad. Like so many other small village dotted around the U.K. there seems to be no sense of community, probably bustling in summer months with holiday makers.
There is a lovely walk from the village down to the coast along the river side part way. There are footpaths but some are hidden. A quiet spot for an early spring break but watch the narrow windy single track roads and pray you don’t meet a lorry! There are great coastal paths here for walkers and it’s a nice spot for dog walks.
The rooms at the Mason’s inn are impressive and comfortable. The little kitchen area in ours lacked cutlery, wine glasses, tea towels and a kettle. It had two fridges though and a coffee machine where you could get hot water.
We really missed our cappuccino in the mornings for breakfast, the coffee provided at breakfast wasn’t great.
All in all Branscombe is a nice place for a short stay.

We stayed in Branscombe because it was close to the location we were visiting the next day. It was a lovely village and the beach was only half a mile away. We could've spent at least two or three days there at the hotel.

Comfortable large double bed and large room and bathroom.
Comfortable large double bed and large room and bathroom. But we gave manager a list of "niggles" (e.g. light in bathroom mirror not working) that were not put right during our stay. Decent food though sometimes overcooked. All staff very friendly and helpful including taking suitcases to our room - important when there are so many steps. Only outside space was immediately onto car park.= - no garden or lounge. Although we liked the hotel, overall we felt it was rather overpriced.

Beautiful village with lovely walks.
Beautiful village with lovely walks. We took the coastal path around the cliffs to Beer, which was challenging in parts, and the cliff top walk back. I’m so glad we did it that way round as the hill back down to Branscombe beach was so steep there was no way I’d have managed to climb it. We walked up the hill to The Fountain Head pub one evening and had a fabulous meal; would definitely recommend a visit as apart from the excellent food, the staff were great too.

The rooms are lovely, beautifully furnished and very spacious and (we were having a very rare hot day) nice and cool, as they are set into the hillside. The hotel had kindly kept us a room at car park level, as we had requested. The village setting is very pretty, though absolutely rammed with holidaymakers at that time of year. Large, comfy beds, good bathroom with walk-in shower, nice toiletries and bits and pieces, such as coffee maker and biccies.
Good food and prompt service. Room well appointed and coffee machine and fresh milk appreciated. The many steps to the cottages were well signed. WiFi was good enough for Zoom meetings. Lovely village with easy walking to Branscombe beach.
Beautifully renovated property that felt like a home away from home. The staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating. The location of the property was beautiful with Branscombe Beach a 10 minute walk away. Would definitely return!
Lovely room, welcoming receptionist who came to check that we had found everything in the room and to make sure that we could cope with the Nespresso machine. Surrounding gardens were stunning and an asset to the hotel.
Quaint in the beautiful village of Branscombe. Staff were welcoming and we were made to feel at home immediately. The room was exquisite and our evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Thank you
