Chester House Hotel, hotel in Bourton on the Water

With free Wi-Fi and free parking for up to 18 cars, this contemporary country-style house is located in Bourton-on-the-Water – known as the “little Venice of the Cotswolds”.

This is a beautiful hotel in a perfect setting for exploring the Cotswolds. The staff was especially helpful when we faced a challenge with our rental car, and also in helping us understand the bus routes back to Bourton on the Water as we prepared for a walk to Stow on the Wold. We would be delighted to return to Chester House Hotel in the future.

Chestnut Bed and Breakfast, hotel in Bourton on the Water

Chestnut Bed and Breakfast is a 300-year-old, grade II listed building in the center of the beautiful Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water. It has a sitting room with free Wi-Fi.

Was it a little quirky - yes! Was it a little crooked in my room- yes! Was it freaking adorable, comfortable, clean and giving English cottage vibes - yes! Stayed for a night and it was really fun to stay somewhere more authentic to the area. It doesn’t have a lobby or a fancy entrance but it was exactly what I needed on a girls trip. Bathroom was updated and spotless. Room and bed were perfection. Had a wonderful view of the river and town. Highly recommend.

    Beautiful quaint village.

Beautiful quaint village. Yes - lots of tourists, and yet locals too with whom we spoke and got recommendations. Lovely little candle shop, gift shops and an absolutely fascinating motor museum which is more of a social history museum presenting a plethora of artifacts from the periods reviewed by presentation of the cars through the different eras. I ran in the morning in the fields at the back of the main street houses and found myself on beautiful paths and then along the river side, with picturesque scenes everywhere around. We stayed at Chester House - excellent.

Beautiful little village. Very pretty and clean.

Beautiful little village. Very pretty and clean. Local people very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Lovely shops and cafes. There are plenty of places to eat. Petrol station and co-op supermarket in the village. Feed the ducks. Buy duck food in the little nook shop on the river. The ducks ate out of our hand. The little nook has beautiful gifts. The best in the village, right on the riverside. Lovely lady serves you. Sit on the benches along the water and buy an Italian ice cream. The Italian restaurant L'Anatra was excellent. Beautiful hotel also. Hope to stay there next time. Mrs Rolts tea room does fresh warm scones with cream tea. And a beautiful breakfast at good price at £20 for two people.. We went to the croft the day before, which was excellent. But it cost £39.

Bourton on the water is a beautiful town set in picturesque settings. The town does get very busy and would suggest if you want to visit then do so as early as possible. The clear stream that flows through the town has stunning trees and some lovely benches along the banks. There are many places to eat and shop till you drop.

Lovely base to explore the Cotswolds but it was extremely busy with so many tourists everywhere. There are plenty of lovely places to visit such as Broadway, Cotswold Wildlife Park, Hawkestone Brewery, Daylesford Organic, Burford Garden Centre and Jeremy Clarksob's new pub, The Farmer's Dog.

the location was great as we were in Bourton on the water for a Hawkstone Brewery event so was walkable - in the centre of the village. Car parking was also a bonus & the main parts of the hotel were dressed well. The reception staff were keen to ensure we were happy with our room (changed several times from the original one!!)
