This charming, quiet town has lovely canal walks and a large public park next to the town centre. The high street has good eateries and nice little shops. Don't miss the Coffee House Cafe, with it's great sandwiches and all-day cooked breakfast!
If you want to explore further the helpful staff in the central tourist office will suggest various self guided historic walks.
It is a perfect spot to overnight only a 15 minute drive from Stansted airport (and is NOT on the flight path, so no noise of passing planes), and easily reached by public bus #510 (or #509) which runs a regular service to and from the town even at night.

Bishops Stortford is a lovely old town which is relatively compact so it is easy to walk around the town centre. There is a good range of shops and quaint tea rooms and excellent restaurants. There’s a river and the station is close to the town centre. It can be a bit noisy especially on Saturday evenings.

Bishop's Stortford is a very picturesque town with friendly people who seem disposed to being welcoming and helpful to travellers. We were only passing through on our way from Stansted Airport to London, nevertheless, we enjoyed visiting the town and would have liked to have stayed a little longer to explore it a bit more

I had limited time to explore the town but I enjoyed walking around on Saturday and noting the mixture of the old historic architecture and the new building. There were plenty of options to eat or stop for a drink.

Lovely little town.
Lovely little town. We was just staying overnight for the Standon Calling Festival and it’s perfect location for anyone going to this. Just about 20 minutes in a taxi from the site. Lots of pubs and nice coffee shops for breakfast the next day. Nice quaint little town with plenty to do.

This place is a hidden gem! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome, all of the staff are fantastic and nothing is ever too much trouble!
We stayed in a newly renovated room, it was beautiful, spacious and very comfortable.. the room had everything you could want.
The food in the restaurant was first class and breakfast was the best we have ever had.
The spa area was lovely too and very well equipped, we thoroughly enjoyed sipping cocktails around the pool!
The location is perfect when visiting Bishops Stortford, right in the centre, with free, secure parking. The flat has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a good sized living room / kitchen. We received excellent communication from our host both before arrival and during our stay.
To note: We had read the reviews highlighting the parking space is narrow, so brought our small Mazda MX5 and therefore had no problems parking. Our other car is a CX5 and we reckon that would have been ok.
Definitely recommended! Two double beds, very spacious room and nice bathroom. Toiletries / tea and coffee provided. Even a fridge on the landing! Friendly staff member greeted us and showed us to the room. Flexible check-in times, good heating. Easy check out. Good value for money. Hotel right in town centre so plenty of things nearby. 3 minutes walk to Wetherspoons for breakfast. Italian restaurant downstairs for dinner. Excellent access to airport and Central London.
This is an unusual hotel. The rooms sit above a garage workshop and it is a bit quirky given its focus on the Morgan car.
The kitchen / dining area is self service for breakfast and is in they style of an american diner.
However the rooms are comfortable and you know all of the above in advance.
Melvyn the host ensures that you are looked after with great communication.
