We were travelling from Essex to Oban and I was looking for a dog friendly accommodation near food and drink in the Scottish Borders. The Elphinstone Arms ticked all these boxes and was 13 miles off the A74. Looking at the advertised local activities there seems to be a strong local community here.

We had a very nice time in B and B nr 4 . The bed slept very well. The bathroom was big and only for us. Tip: if you have time go to the puppet theater. It is beautiful just as the Museum. And for a nice dinner we recommend The Crown.

A lovely town surrounded by beautiful countryside - a bit like stepping back in time - One gets a feeling little has changed over the years - Some wonderful surprises however as there is a new cafe on the high street - fabulous food and ambience - delicious coffee - Lack of a proper sign would have you walk by if you're not paying attention! An exceptional bookshop and some wonderful craft shops are worth checking out - including a very interesting gallery/ clothes shop full of colourful murals and state of the art crafts and cards. A good mix of old and new!

Lovely wee town, plenty places to eat, have coffee or a drink and we went a lovely walk down past the pharmacy and past the schools, takes you down past the golf course to a little boating pond you can walk around and come back the other side of the golf course. Recommended to us by the guy in the Elphenstone Hotel.

We were quite late arriving but we were still welcomed and shown to our lovely, bright, large room. There was a fridge with milk and water in, which for me was great as I dislike the little pods of milk. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits too. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed our breakfast. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The Crown pub was a cosy place for a drink.

Beautifully renovated property - it was very obvious how much love has been poured into this old building to create a wonderful place to stay. The owners are fabulous, genuine people who go out of their way to make sure their guests are happy. We had the family room which was huge, warm and very comfortable. Plenty of choice for breakfast, and even Dudley the dog got a sausage! This is a very special property within walking distance of Biggar. Highly recommended - you will not be disappointed.
Charles and Jane were warm and welcoming hosts. The bed was super comfy and the location was perfect for a wedding in the nearby Cornhilll Castle hotel. Would thoroughly recommend.
Fantastic stay at this hotel on our way south from a round trip of Scotland. This was overall the best place we stayed in a ten day trip. Evening meal was excellent
