Hotel was clean, comfortable and met all my basic requirements. Breakfast could have had more variety but when I asked them to make an omelette, they did which was great.

Arlan House, Central Basingstoke Hotel, hotel in Basingstoke

Arlan House, Central Basingstoke Hotel offers accommodations in Basingstoke, 14 miles from Jane Austen's House Museum and 14 miles from Highclere Castle.

This is a hotel with no on-site staff. All our communication was done via Booking.com messenger. They were available and responsive and quite helpful in resolving any issues we had. There were adequate towels and a very nice shower. The room was comfortable with coffee/tea and just enough room to open suitcases and maneuver. It is a great location in Basingstoke and is quite close to the large mall and the main business street with shops, restaurants and pubs. We parked on the street but it looked like there was parking behind the hotel.

Location doesn’t feel on the edge of Basingstoke and business parks. Lovely relaxed pub, no TV’s and low background noise music. Incredibly friendly staff both evening and breakfast. Rooms clean and comfortable. Food is of great quality.

Close to the rail station, as I was in and out during my stay. Big tv screen with Netflix. Good wifi. Kitchen was useful though a bit randomly equipped. Lots of hot water.

I travelled in by train and the station is right opposite the big shopping centre, lots of shops inside and places to eat and drink. More shops outside too, again with lots of choices for places to eat and drink. Big cinema on site and a flip out too (trampoline park). If you fancy a coffee, there is a small coffee shop inside the Apricot clothing shop on the lower floor. Very reasonably priced and staff serving were lovely too. Had a lovely few days in Basingstoke. :-)

The room was quiet, comfortable and had everything needed. There were good facilities at the hotel - dining room, seating area, bar, good parking and was easily accessible. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated within easy reach of the M3 and also Basingstoke. And I feel it was reasonably priced

Small town that has a really good shopping centre with a wide choice of the normal and more unusual shops. There are plenty of places to eat, cinema complex, theatre and a good selection of places to park.

A great mixture of old and new: new shopping mall cleverly melded into "old town". Very well looked after and litter-free. Lots of indoor activities especially for children and young families. Excellent range of properties for folk wanting to settle there (with good access to London). Lots of road works but probably a passing phase.

We didn’t really explore locally, but rather used it as a base to explore the whole area. It’s just a touch over an hours drive to the south coast, to Bath and to London. We visited Estates with some of the best art collections outside of London, the National Auto Museum, Wisley Garden, rode bikes in the New Forest, played disc golf, visited the Safari Park and much more. There’s a good pub 10 minutes walk away and a huge grocery store about 10 minutes drive away. Perfect!

Basingstoke was a surprise for me...I hadn't expected it to be so full of art & culture. Every available space it seemed to me had been brought to life with a variety of paintings ; poetry ; lighting etc The streets were clean ...plenty of litter bins...hardly any graffiti...people seem to take a pride in their town, which was great to see. I rejoiced to see a market place being used and numerous independent shops as well as a vibrant shopping centre. There are also a number of well maintained green spaces - Eastrop and Glebe Gardens fir example. I didn't have occasion to use the bus service but did use the railway station and went to Salisbury , Whitchurch and Romsey. The Ring Rd is a bit of a challenge but at least the roundabouts are named , which is useful! There is easy access to the M3. I went self catering but found a really nice coffee shop on the way to the station- I think it is called Willow Tea Room ...it is near the statue of the Bluecoat school boy! It is multi cultural so you are spoilt for choice re eating out. The shopping centre is bright, clean and vibrant.

We have rent a small apartment at the No 10 Short Stay and we were two adults and one kids. Linzi did an upgrade for free to a bigger apartment with two bedrooms, two baths, an open space with living room and kitchen. The apartment was amazing, very nice, clean and in a strategic position, very near to the town centre and Festival Place shopping centre. Next time we'll come to Basingstoke, we will rent the same apartment. Very recommended!

Instead of my usual choice of a local hotel when in Basingstoke for work, I tough I would try The Coach House. I wasn’t disappointed, clean, modern and very comfortable with everything you need, a real home from home. I will definitely be back.
